>>
Half the VAs have retired so no.

It's taken Valve a career's worth of time just to make all these stupid fucking shorts.
>>
>>381636018
source?
>>
What short
>>
>>381636339

Gabe's life span
>>
>>381636069

They were that old to begin with?
>>
>>381636018
Yes shorts comics and Halloween are the only things that are good these days
>>
>>381636069
No they haven't.
>>
>>381636404
The Gabe fat jokes never get old
>>
>>381636018
I hope the writing's done considering all their half decent writers left. That said, Miss Pauling is cancer.
>>
>>381636069
Soldier's VA can't yell but that's about it
>>
>>381636564
Soldier and Engineer are both gone for good. Medic is an actually accomplished VA so his availability is limited (and Valve probably doesn't want to cough up the money for his talent anyway).

Beyond that, though, the rest are fine and work with Valve on a regular basis.
>>
Why does Valve take so fucking long to put out anything? Is their work ethic really that fucking shit? Serious question.
>>
>>381636854
No management, no structure, no objectives, no accountability. Lolbertarian principals at work.
>>
>>381636854
>>381637196
I would blame their lack of competition. Monopoly on something=you can fuck with customers however you want
>>
>>381636854
Non-stratified office structure. Nobody is ever forced to work on any specific project, which is why TF2 only has 16 people working on it, only 5 of which are actual programmers.

So aside from Counter-Strike, Dota 2 and everything that they need to be keep Steam running, you basically have their entire staff working on random pet projects that either turn into something(e.g. their various VR developments) or just go nowhere.

Freedom is good for innovation, initiative, etc., but the inverse is, as stated before, there's no Yakuza-esque overlords making sure they crank out an actual product after spending money.

These shenanigans are also pretty much subsidized by Steam anyway.

>tfw you don't whip out your shovel and press "G" cause you don't wanna hurt him

;3;
>>
>>381636825
Do you have sources for Soldier being gone? Everybody except Downes recorded lines last year (obvious scheduling issues). I know Grant Goodeve wasn't in Expiration Date for some reason but the voice work since distinctly sounds like him. I would guess he wasn't in Expiration Date because originally they were going to make a series which he didn't want to commit to.
>>
>>381636069
As far as I know engineer is the only one who no longer does voices but nolan north can imitate him pretty well. Heavy and demos VA still does voices but they're a bit off. Soldier can't yell anymore.

I remember a few years ago there were articles about it, making their management strategy out to be forward thinking despite the fact that a regular company pulling this shit would go under immediately. I also remember them getting good press for releasing totally free updates - now they release things like paid-for achievements (contracts) and gambling crates. What a time.
>>
>>381638318
Right, this pretty much only works if you're like Google or you're like Valve who runs Steam where you have a product/service that is functionally the entire market it competes in and brings in so much money you can afford to do weird things like that.
>>
>>381636018
>ow that it's confirmed that Valve is making another TF2 short
What?
>>
>>381636069
>all the writers for HL1 and 2 left
god dammit valve all we asked for was a conclusion is that so hard to do.
>>
>>381640162
The plan was for all three HL2 episodes to be released in 2006. Maybe Laidlaw had some scripts already?
>>
>>381636825
Robin atkin downs isnt terribly big compared to the more known AAA actors so I doubt its a money issue.

Robin voiced the medic in that adult swim pilot.

>>381637584
Thats the soldiers voice actor though he still voiced the soldier in the short it was the new engineer actor that did his screams.
>>
>>381636069
All the VAs recorded new lines for the matchmaking update.

It was Nolan North
>>
>>381641163
That's what he said. The Soldier VA did all the Soldier lines except screams which Nolan North (the new Engineer VA since Grant Goodeve retired) who did the screams for Soldier.

I just figured someone reading might not know who the new VA was. Haven't seen it in this thread
Just throwing it out there that it was Edward Richtofen doing it.
>>
>>381637196
yeah the government should force Valve to make video games
>>
If this ties into the Jungle/Pyro update, what would you make it about?

Also I want the TF2-verse New Zealand as a map.
>>
>>381641463
New Zealand is underwater in the tf2 verse
>>
>>381637380

VR is dead already
>>
>>381641546
Exactly why I want a map.
