After the comfy Sonic Mania thread from the other day, I decided to play & beat Sonic CD (after only playing a little of it as a child). I didn't realize how good it was with that excellent music. SCD was the only one I never beat.
So how about a Sonic thread?

There's something about the pinball-like layout on CD that makes it my favorite. Maybe because it serves the momentum-based gameplay better than long strips of gotta go fast.

While the pinball was cool, the lack of a flat speed-building surfaces really made it difficult to time travel, especially in the later stages.

True, time traveling was rather rough. Still really like the level design though.

In preparation for Mania, I decided to obtain and play all the entries from the Classic series.
It was certainly a fun nostalgic experience, I haven't played any of these games since I was a wee laddie, but I'm terrible at them.
how do you get gud at Classic Sonic?

I did the same thing. I beat SCD so now I'm debating starting at Sonic 1 or playing S3&K.

Don't go fast.

What's with Tails' tails?
>>381637176
Haven't been able to find a good quality image of them.

Try asking them on Sonic Retro? I know they posted sprites before.
CD would be considered great if the time travel mechanic didnt exist, and you only saw different futures based on your time stones.
the levels are great, except not when you consider you should be time traveling.
Okay, is the SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics the only ports of the first three Sonic games on steam? I found the whole "room" gimmick to be clunky and annoying. Isn't there a port as polished as the Sonic CD one?

Not ports, emulation. Sonic CD is the port.
There are remakes of 1 and 2, but they're still stuck on phones for god knows what reason.
>>381639083
That's fucked. No bueno.
>>381638987
I think there's a way to disable the room.
>>381639083
Correction, CD is a remake as well.

I know, right? Figured they would bring them as pre-order incentives for Mania, no dice.
