When will the recent price increase in GPUs finally end? I waited

It never ends, PC gaming is for suckers who buy overprices crap just to play the same games everybody else does. GPU and CPU prices are gonna' go into the stratosphere.

gtx 1080 is <500 on amazon

I was about to buy a 6 GB 1060 but then prices went up to around $300. Unless something shitty happens to Ethereum miners or Nvidia/AMD release a card dedicated for mining then there's going to be shortages and price increases for awhile.

i just got a new 970 for 150 usd pretty happy.

I'm torn. I want better priced cards so I can finally feel okay about upgrading, but on the other hand cryptocurrency has made me a buttload of money
