Because the video game consumer base is one of the most painfully accepting consumer bases when it comes to anti-consumer practices.

It's how we got micro transactions, season passes, day 1 patches, DLC that was literally removed from the original product, on disk DLC and many more such horrible, greedy business practices becoming commonplace.

The fact is that people who buy video games will accept things that people buying other media simply wouldn't. Imagine if a movie came out and they announced that you had to pay another 5 bucks in the theater to see the last 20 minutes of the movie, no one would accept that shit but people do accept that exact same concept for video games with DLC that has been cut from the original game.
