Thief 1 felt more memorable, every level shifted gear in some way, Cathedral being the absolute highlight. Thief 2 has the best overall level ever - Life of the Party, but every other stage is just some mansion. I also dislike how everything became iron and stone so rope arrows became nigh unusable and you triggered the guards every 2 steps

Well Thief 2 levels start getting very shitty towards the end. Masks is literally a repeat of an earlier level. Not only that but the mechanist bots are not fun enemies compared to something like the undead. They even let Terri work on the level design and she made one of the most linear levels in video game history.

Thief 1 has a good balance of levels.

Is this an exception because this seriously isn't fun, I've been walking around this tomb area for half an hour and have no idea how to progress and getting here wasn't very fun either.
Loved the first two levels though, I watched a play through of Lord Bafford's manor on YouTube and I couldn't believe all the routes that were possible to take to get to the scepter.

Bonehoard is not everybody's cup of tea, it's a big departure from the design of other levels. Most other levels are more traditional, but boy if you lost your way in Bonehoard I suggest you lube your boihole well for Thieves Guild and Haunted Cathedral. Set the latter one to lower difficulty cause otherwise you'll be wandering among zombies for hours.

The pro tip for Thieve's Guild is knowing that there is a major fork in the level when you enter the sewer and those two guards are talking. Go to the left to get to one guild leader's place, and up the ramp to get to the other's. Once you realize that, it's not so bad.
