Why do people defend corporations online because they made something you own?
Like what the actual fuck?
I don't have very much money

It's funny because video games are one the cheapest "hobbies" there are.

Because humans are tribal.

Why do people defend their shitty countries only because they were born on that specific piece of land? Stupid shit.

lol
in what fucking way?
When you've accomplished nothing of value in your life, you cling to whatever external identities you can to try and seem like you have achieved something.

This is pretty much the answer at its core level.
I'll defend Atlus to death because they're the only game company I know who hasn't made a bad sequel or a bad game so far. At least as far as Persona/SMT/Catherine is concerned. So many other developers who we thought were awesome or "bros" turned out to stab us in the back, like Fromsoft and Rockstar.

bingo
you just aren't socially allowed to be tribal in certain ways anymore, so you project onto something else
Look at the comments on normie news sites when they bust a pedophile. Everyone wants to see executions, but it isn't socially acceptable to do it, so they get incredibly violent verbally

shills or indoctrinated idiots
usually poor fags though

Brand loyalty.
A better question would be why people act like criticizing a product they don't personally like is STANDING UP AGAINST THE MAN, being a crusader for justice or whatever.
I saw a guy who wanted to message Capcom JP about the possibility of Capcom US boosting the views of MHW with bots. Like, who cares? What the fuck is Capcom JP supposed to do?
>>381584656
Capitalist indoctrination
I agree. Like these people who argue about which game will be a financial success. Or acting as if they're unreleased game being a future financial success somehow equates to it being a good game, or a game worth getting. Or arguing that because a games trailer is currently getting more views on youtube, it means the other games are "BTFO" and "X/Y wins/loses again!".
Who the fuck is even browsing this site anymore?

Because they enjoyed their product leaps and bounds over others and want more of it.
fanboyism is a mental disease
