So what kind of screen do you enjoy your ludo on? Do you prefer to hook up a big TV to your rig for maximum immersion or a smaller PC monitor for tighter controls?

I personally have a 40" TV connected to my rig. Much comfier than your standard 24" PC monitors.
>>
>>381578867
Ludo is worse than kino. Doesn't sound as catchy.
>>
You can tell it's just hardware illiterate retards that try to feel superior for using a tv
>>

Monitor for 1080p and lower lag
TV for 4K
>but there are 4k monitors
Yeah but 4K isn't worth spending money on unless it's a big enough screen
>>
>>381578867
55" 4K TV.
>>

>>
57" 1080p tv
I hope you die in your fucking sleep for using shit like ludo and kindo tbfh.
>>
>>381579190
>lower lag

Is this really as pronounced as it's said to be? I mean if you're playing some twitch shooter like CSGO it might matter but generally not. The input lag/response time is generally low enough on TVs (that is if you have at least a semi recent TV and not some decade old cheap chink "HD"TV) that you can't distinguish the difference between it and a "proper" monitor.
>>
>>381578867
Monitor for work.
TV for gaming.
>>
22'' 1080 monitor

want to get a 24-28 or something and use my 22 as a second monitor.

I've had my 22 since Counter-Strike Source was cool.
>>
>>381582427
Yeah get a 27", it's the optimal imo for desk usage.
>>
>>381578867
>frame rates
>interpolated frames vs real frames
monitor always
>>
Recently went from a 37" TV to a 24" monitor. So much better not seeing the goddamn pixels in my face. Plan on getting another monitor as well.
>>
Why would you use a TV? There's tons of input delay.
>>
>>381583635
I think most modern 500-ish dollar TVs have native 60hz.

>>381583838
You were sitting too close to it then, or it was a cheap TV.
>>381583942

I'm using a TV because I used it when I still played consoles and my old monitor didn't have a hdmi slot.

When I have more money to spend I plan on buying two monitors though.
>>
My current setup is 3 1280x1050 monitors I got for free, but I'm looking to replace them with a 3440x1440 100Hz (or higher) Freesync monitor. TVs are limited to 16:9, 60Hz input, have far too much input lag, and no Freesync.

I'm still mad the PS4 Pro doesn't have Freesync, it would be absolutely perfect for that system. 40-45fps is infinitely better than 30fps.

He's talking about 120Hz TVs, which are almost always interpolated, as they (usually) don't accept an input higher than 60Hz.

You guys don't even know real pain.
>>
>>381584587
Ahh, I see. Well anything over 60hz is a meme anyway so ehh.
>>
>>381580078
Yes, it IS as pronounced as it's said to be. Set a TV and a monitor next to each other and connect them to a computer, then set it to duplicate the image on both screens, then open up ANY game and go up and down on a menu. You'll see that moving from one section of the menu to another is MUCH faster on the monitor. You are at a heavy disadvantage in ANY game if you use a TV over a monitor.

This input lag is also true on games played in Borderless Windowed on a monitor. You should always play games in Fullscreen for the least amount of input lag.

My TV is two years old and it isn't some cheap ass Chinese brand.

only teenagers with no concept of technology think they're getting a great deal by buying a large TV instead of a monitor.

Televisions are designed to make footage look good, not accurate.
Most have "game mode"s to reduce latency but ultimately they're designed for movies and tv, they're designed to look good playing inside a department store.
There's a reason they're cheap compared to monitors of the same size despite their extra hardware.

Monitors are designed to accurately represent the display as closely as possible. They're almost always better.
Sure there are good TVs out there but I guarantee most of the people buying these 40 inch budget displays aren't getting those.
>>
>>381584726
>I have never tried a 75Hz or higher monitor
Try one. You will never want to go back to 60.
>>
>>381584938
I actually had a 144hz monitor for a while. Thing is, hitting 144fps or even close to it is tough on modern titles without significantly dialing down on graphics. Not to mention the color accuracy is terrible. That's why I switched back to 60hz.
>>
>>381584731
>This input lag is also true on games played in Borderless Windowed on a monitor. You should always play games in Fullscreen for the least amount of input lag.
Source on that? I really don't want to go back to alt-tabing exclusive fullscreen games.
>>
>>381585237
>Not to mention the color accuracy is terrible.
You know there are IPS and VN panels with 144Hz, right? You don't have to buy a cheap TN panel.
>>
>>381584731
I don't know man, my TV feels pretty responsive in games. I don't notice any delay with inputs.
>>
>>381585367
Yeah but I don't want to shill out 500+ dollars on a monitor. I'd rather get a cheaper monitor and spend the money on better components instead, for example
>>
>>381585383
Just fucking do the test. You'll notice it and never want to play on anything but a monitor.
>>381585249
Okay, I actually don't have any "proof" but my friend claimed it was true, told my other friend about it and he said that he started doing it on CSGO and absolutely wrecked everyone and could clearly notice the difference. I'd say just play Fullscreen to be on the safe side, plus it helps games run a lot better too.
>>
>>381585517
I would think a monitor is the last thing you'd want to cheap out on. A good monitor will last you several builds.

>>381585579
With how much I alt-tab during gaming I'll have to look up a way to test it.
>>
>>381585730
It doesn't matter for singleplayer games, but if you want to remain competitive in multiplayer games, you'd want to play fullscreen. What the fuck are you alt tabbing in a multiplayer game for anyway?
>>
I have 144hz 27" benq monitor that's nice as shit but I still like to play ps4 on TV like a fuckin pleb
>>
>>381585901
Checking op.gg, double checking stats I'm unsure about, switching music etc. etc.
>>
>>381585579
Apparently my TV has an input lag of 16ms and my monitor has 9ms, I don't think I'd notice much difference in a side-by-side test.

>>381587239
What's your budget? $200? $500? $1000+?
>>
>>381587239
It's so much up to your own preferences.

Do you prefer a higher resolution or a higher framerate? Do you want a standard 16:9 monitor or maybe an 21:9 ultrawide? Do you want FreeSync/G-Sync? Which panel type do you prefer, IPS? TN? Or maybe some other type?

Each monitor also has its own cons which some other monitor might not have, so you need to figure out what is the most important to you.

>>
>>381588671
what did you not like about it?
>>
>>381588705
and that one costs $3000

>>381588775
20ms is awful, and if you cant feel the difference when you play its because you're a casual console pleb whos already being bombarded with silky smooth 25FPS and motion blur. your seances have been so abused you have no idea what a smooth gaming experience feels like.
>>
>>381588806
Well, after I finally calibrated it properly after an hour or so of trying, since out of the box picture was terrible and blinding on all modes basically, the blacks were grey and had weird artifacts going on in them, the monitor sometimes produced faint vertical lines on 120/144hz (I googled it, apparently it's a "feature" to the monitor) and color accuracy was subpar.
>>
>>381589049
I guarantee you, you would not be able to tell which is which between 5ms and 20ms in a blind test.
>>
>>381578867
i have a 1070 connected up to a 32 inch tv and a smaller samsung moniter/tv hybrid. gaming is pretty good in general. it's definitely got more input lag than my old TN 27" which was 1ms but you get used to it pretty quickly and i don't notice myself getting any worse in general gaming. the big screen is just nicer to play on in games like gta 5 or hitman. it really immerses you (i sit like 30 inches away from it, it's basically on a work desk where you'd oput your normal 23" inch monitor). in games like battlegrounds i can see for absolute miles and notice the little pixels of people who are sniping me from miles away. it really helps in that sense. it's also good for watching general youtube content or movies.

hopefully by december i'll have a 4k60 32" monitor to replace it and with hopefully lower input response times. i can't go back to smaller screens now.

most monitors have 9-11ms input lag.

unless you are talking about response time.
>>
4k OLED owner here.

4k/60hz and 1080/120hz with 15ms of input lag.

its like a dream.
>>
>>381589539
I had the same revelation. Anything below 32" is uncomfortable for gaming and 24" is just beyond tiny in my eyes. I guess it's the same with 60 vs 144 hz for some people, I just can't go lower than 32" anymore.
>>
>>381587870
I'm not planning on buying one now, but Under 400 would be nice. I thought there was like a list of must have features or brands or something

>>381588001
I'll look all that stuff up then. Thanks
>>
>>381589896
theres only 28 monitors on newegg with 9-11ms delay.
they're shit, no one wants them.

1-5ms has 1000+
>>
Depends on the game. Anything I want to play with a controller I play on my 4K 55 inch TV that is hooked up to my PC.

For RTS/MMO/FPS/Anything that does better with mouse and keyboard, PC.
>>
>>381589317
hmm wtf yeah I never had any of those issues with mine its a different model though, the blacks are grey but only if playing on like full brightness high contrast. The cinema mode of photo mode have fine color accuracy for me though
>>
>>381578867
fuck TVs
>non 10 bit colour on all but the most expensive
>shit panels
>shit contrast ratios
>shit colour spectrum
>shit response time
>low refresh rate

sure it's bigger but nigga just sit closer to your monitor
27" 4k monitor looks god tier and I can't wait upgrade my secondary 1440p screen to 5k or 8k
>>
>>381578867
I have both. 30something" monitor on my desk, then behind my back is a 40" TV connected via HDMI at all times.

When friends come over I just flip to HDMI 3 and chance my default audio device and I have stacks on stacks of games to play local multiplayer with in my steam library.
>>
>>381591241

You know it doesn't work like that.
