Some parts of the game are nice, but yeah, overall I find it to be pretty depressing. CD decided to make an absolutely massive world for no fucking reason, and it shows with gameplay and visuals. Witcher 2 is still miles above the third for me, because the world is rich in detail and encounters. It is a nice middle ground of exploring but with purpose. Not just crafting huge levels for no fucking reason. It feels like something interesting is around every corner in witcher 2, where as in 3 it felt completely empty and unfinished. God I despise open world games for that reason. Hub worlds are always vastly superior. Leave GTA style worlds to sandbox games that you can fuck around in - not witcher.

I am sure some will disagree, but fuck it pisses me off that witcher 3 could have been far superior if they had just cut the games size by at least a fourth. Would have let them polish the game and retrofit more areas for more interesting encounters / staged events.

I think a large part of it was just the controls. I felt that Geralt needs to be faster and more fluid during combat. Jumping felt like it was thrown in a week before release too lol. And the horse riding was atrocious for controls. Basically just felt like a C- experience with controls. I love the combat, but I felt it needed to be faster animation wise. For Geralt I mean. Like to dodge / sidestep.

The world being filled with interesting things was definitely there, but I guess i just enjoyed the distinct design of levels like in witcher 2. 3 mostly felt like a open world game with some cool things thrown in everywhere. Although impressive in its own way, I still loved the more tailored experience of 2. Especially with the beauty of its environments. 3 I found to be quite ugly at times honestly. It has some beautiful parts, but some gross parts too lol. I respect 3 a lot for what it achieved, but I still wished it was smaller and with different controls.

I do agree that it is an amazing title, but its many flaws could and should have been easy fixes which is why it upsets me.

Even if the world is exactly the same, I could have accepted it if the animations / controls were vastly superior. Having to deal with that clunk for 40 hours ends up feeling like a taxing experience. Still amazing what they achieved in some aspects, but so damn disappointing in other ways. I hope they can learn a lot for cyberpunk, but I feel it will be the exact same seeing as how they are promising it will be "much larger than the witcher 3". We will see in time though. I still support cd project as always.

Recently Witcher 3, Dark Souls 2 and Watch Dogs were the biggest. All three were huge, the actual games are like an entire fucking generation behind what they originally advertised. But I think only the Witcher devs actually tried to hide it. DS2 and Ubisoft were more or less upfront about it.

I cant believe CD project still claims that the original gameplay trailer was running in house on pc and was real time gameplay LOL so much of it was obviously rendered, yet they chose to lie because? One of the weirdest things to lie about. They should have just said it was a render, or that they needed to scale back for whatever reason. The type of gameplay in cyberpunk has a better chance of being tolerable even if a bit clunky as well. Still not too sure what to expect, but looking forward to details regardless. My biggest complain about Witcher 3 was not downgrade but washing out the artistic design into the bland Triple A generic fantasy. Look at the 2014 trailer. The atmosphere of Witcher is dripping from the screen thanks to the palette and graphics.

W3 looks way too colorful.

THIS. I don't care that the textures / details and some lighting had to be downgraded, but there is no reason why the vision of this game had to change so drastically. What we saw before was colorful yet dark and moody. An amazing blend of styles, and still impresses me beyond words.

Many scenes in the game are absurd with their bright obnoxious colors. The game looks like a washed out 'the witness' at times, just awful.
