Would Skyrim have benefited if one of its many re-releases contained a "story mode" as it were, where you play as a defined character in the game instead of a user created avatar. That took the player through a small, highly polished and detailed linear campaign?
Fuck no, Bethesda games shine when you get bored of a quest and go wandering only to discover another. A linear campaign is only going to make the limitations of the game stand out more while giving you nine of its freedoms.

That would only fly if it was a handheld or mobile phone spinoff, where such limitations would be understandable. The WRPG crowd has moved on from what you're asking for.

A linear campaign would specifically make a ton of gameplay options that aren't viable BECAUSE of it's open world nature an option.

Like what? All I see predict is getting forced into more uncanny valley conversations and then not being able to roam around.
It could possibly work if it wasnt a movie like all the other action rpgs. But at the point why even call it skyrim just make another game
You mean like a white haired old faggot?
