When the Vita is no more, will the smaller Japanese developers move to the Switch?

I'm talking here about the likes of Nippon Ichi, Gust, Idea Factory, 5pb etc.
>>
>>381550349
Probably. Or to a new Sony hybrid since it's possible that they're gonna imitate Nintendo
>>
>>381550349
Some already are.
>>
>>381550448
>possible
Pretty much guaranteed at this point.
>>
Not many other options, so yeah. No problem for importers, but people who rely on NoA are probably gonna be fucked when it comes to the more fanservicey ones.
>>
>>381550349
Doubt it, its more expensive to develop for and theyd had to deal with nintendo bullshit policies.

That would mean they would have to go digital only and thats a big no-no for the Japanese market where even the worst of kusoge gets a physical release.
>>
Would make sense.
>>
>>381550349
If anything they will move to the PS4/Steam.

Most releases these days are PS4/PSV already.
>>
>>381550349
>will the smaller Japanese developers move to the Switch?
They're already moving to PS4/Mobile/PC, all Switch will get is a few half assed ports as a courtesy, like it's doing now, there's no market for small JP devs on the Switch.
>>
>>381553493
>>381553508
>PC/Steam
How popular is PC gaming in Japan? I thought PC releases were meant for the west.
>>
>>381550349
>Atelier games on the Switch

Please make it happen.
>>
It's either that or mobile unless they're just going to drop handheld focus all together.
>>
>>381550349
Probably not, the reason they are on Vita in the first place is that the console is completely dead. On the Switch or 3DS the competition is way too fierce to sell their shovelware.
>>
>>381550349
Nope, they've gone to PC
>>
>>381553687
>How popular is PC gaming in Japan?

Not very.

Release order is JP consoles only first, then later on, English localization w/Steam port either simultaneously or even later. And sometimes they don't even put the Japanese version up for JP customers on PC at that time.
>>
>>381554147
>the console is completely dead
The console isn't and never was dead, especially when third parties have carte blanche with it and keep on making games for it.
>On the Switch or 3DS the competition is way too fierce to sell their shovelware.
There is no competition to speak of when there's no target demographic for all the stuff that gets published on Vita, see Vanillaware games like Muramasa, which bombed on Wii but were a success on Vita and Sony consoles in general, besides, Switch and 3DS are full of actual shovelware, just brand named shovelware like ARMS.
Needless to keep on repeating that people buy Nintendo consoles for first party games and the occasional Dragon Quest, little else sells on those consoles and that's one of the big reason they have no third party support whatsoever.
>>
>>381553493
>>381553508

The PS4 version always end up selling significantly less though. They will lose sales by going PS4 only

it's basically guaranteed. Even if Sony does come out with a new portable system, it won't be out for awhile. Companies will move to the Switch during the interim, and then discover that their games sell better on a super popular system than one like the Vita that only wasn't a flop in Japan
>>
>>381550349
They'll probably move to mobile or PC. Look at all the japanese games getting localized recently. Steam is a goldmine for them.
>>
>>381555646
>and then discover that their games sell better on a super popular system than one like the Vita that only wasn't a flop in Japan
Except it never worked like that and the 3DS is the most glaring proof of that.
>>
>>381550349
they will move to smartphone
>>
>>381555509
Not every that owns a vita will buy a Switch. Also Switch has like 2 hours of battery life if you play with wifi on.
>>
That was the end game all along

Even better, 3 years from now we will see a Sonyntendo hybrid console with good graphics and all the exclusives and we will have to praise our japonian overlords
>>
>>381556324
Do any of those games require wifi though?
>>
>>381555646
You're mistakenly assuming the traditional Nintendo audience cares about these games enough to know they exist when they never show up on Treehouse or Direct
>>
>>381550349
PS4/PC

please no

>>381556572
Nintenbro here. I can confirm that Nippon Ichi are the only ones I've ever heard about, and that I don't even know what they make.
>>
>>381556764
Haha, as if.

I still think Bayonetta is garbage despite owning a Wii U and being quite happy with it.
>>
>>381556324
>Also Switch has like 2 hours of battery life if you play with wifi on.
For game that need a lot power and isn't 2.5 for botw then longer for some other games?
>>
>>381550349
They seem to be actually moving to the pS4

Nights of Azure 2 on Switch will be a good test run, I'm sure other devs will be watching its sales too. It's the first 'high budget' (really mid-budget, but that's considered high for these games) one releasing simultaneously on PS4/Vita/Switch
>>
>>381555509
>>381550349
No. All those devs hate Nintendo. Look at Falcom for example. They could have released stuff on Nintendo hardware before but always chose Sega or Sony. Shit they even chose nich failure systems like MSX or PC Engine over Famicom or Super Famicom.

>>381555509
They don't care. They will keep releasing on Vita even if Sony officially says it's discontinuing it. Then they will go to PS4 even if it means they sell like shit. The goal is to avoid Nintendo.
>>
>>381550349
PS4. You're assuming most vita enthusiasts will get a switch.
>>
>>381557052
This tbqh. It's just in Japanese culture to hold grudges for being wronged in the past. Nintendo fucked up by fucking over 3rd parties for nearly a decade.
>>
>>381555509
They will sell keep their average sales on a single platform by virtue of concentrating their target audience on a single version of their games.
People still don't understand that not only 3rd parties try to stay away from Nintendo's consoles as much as they can, they just can't compete because they have zero relevance on them, Nintendo keeps pushing their own IPs and the three or four series that historically sold well on their consoles, everything else gets zero exposure or gets called shovelware because it's not Nintendo stuff or one of those few franchises that sell, see what people do with Vita games on /v/ for instance.

Devs will much prefer a platform that is all for themselves like the Vita than trying their luck on Nintendo's consoles, and that is beyond the fact that Sony gives them better deals and much more exposure than Nintendo ever will, there is a reason why most of the age old devs and smaller ones are all on Sony's side, Sony allows them to pay their bills reliably, that's all there is to it at the end of the day, beyond personal hate for Nintendo(which certain devs in the industry undoubtedly have at this point), beyond their games being niche or not, Sony is just the better and more stable business opportunity, and if they really want easy dosh there's mobile and webbrowser games that literally print money for next to no cost and are great for training rookie employees.
>>
>When the Vita is no more, will the smaller Japanese developers move to the Switch?

What exactly has changed about how nintendo treats third parties to entice them to develop for the Switch?

Have nintendo friends proven they will buy third party games yet?
>>
>>381557052
This. Most likely move to mobile.
