Old games had alot more charm and polish to them than new games.

yes it's normal. enjoying graphics is far from the most intense emotion one gets from playing games. even the acclamed red dead redemption bored me to no end back then. good retro music and gameplay is unrivaled.

My younger brother can't beat half of the games released pre 2001, but he can beat any modern game under a week.

I'm pretty sure difficulty is not something developers worry about so much nowadays since there are newer ways to keep a game lasting longer such as dlc or some sandbox bullshit.

If you're asking "is experiencing nostalgia and wishing for a lost 'golden era' normal human behavior?", then yeah. Pretty basic. It tends to happen more to people who are well into adulthood though, the younger crowd is usually the most excited by new stuff (speaking in broad generalizations).

It's just nostalgia. I've played a bunch of older games (not having grown up with anything older than the N64), and I think they fucking suck.

Being almost 34, I find the younger kids are into shit I played already and have no desire to revisit. Sorry, but I can't get excited over crash Bandicoot again. I like indie throwbacks though because they're new to me.

I mostly play NES, all the 16-bit consoles, arcade games, and 90s PC games. Gaming definitely went downhill after the 6th gen. PS2 was the last great console.

I'm 18. Gaming has definitely gone downhill. I've been blown away by older systems and how many flat out classics they had. Nothing 7th or 8th gen has had the frequency of quality games. Stuff like Bloodborne is RARE nowadays.
