(At least when playing on console) it's way harder to keep constantly aware of your surroundings. Even trying to just glance in the direction of a sound and then back at your enemy takes way longer than it should.

So they're probably okay I guess, at least in games where grenades are a OHKO

S'alright, it helps make up for the lack of situational awareness of a videogame compared to real life.

i like games that give you distinct audio cue; the actual plonking sound when on lands on the ground/rocks or clanking off a wall. unfortunately real 3d sound died in the early-mid 00s so now you just get a don't die indicator telling which way to run.
