Because one, it's not a fucking surprise so there's honestly no point in hiding it.
And two, it's marketing reasons. Sexy girls sell better in Japan so if they market her as a sexy girl she'll "maybe" get more sales in the East. "Maybe"

Also keep in mind that Samus being a girl as basically a joke and nothing more. I think another reason they don't care is because it wasn't a political statement to begin with.

Also, when you really look at Samus' old armor, you can kinda see some feminine features. They're fairly subtle, yeah, but still noticeable.
