I was missing the golden age era of where every company wanted to make new fighters, resulting in gems like Waku Waku 7, Darkstalkers, Power Stone, World Heroes, etc.

Yeah but Switch is the first to come with local multiplayer support right out of the box.

2 controllers that are easy to take with you on the go and for pretty much 99% of the library can function as separate controllers (with one exception being the rhythm game Voez).
