It's the best of all the Annos. Classic is great and everything but 2070 adds more variety and still holds to the production chain satisfier formula that makes Anno fun. Gives you upgrades to play with and intensives to start new games. It has everything the older games has with lots of new toys to play with.

It's fucking awesome but didn't do so hot because MUH CLASSIC ANNO

I feel like I'll just be a broken record if I keep saying Alpha Protocol (which i fucking love) so I'll mix it up and say Populous: The Beginning is my favourite game of the series and at the time it was the least well regarded of the lot

but seriously I fucking love Alpha Protocol and it deserves all the love in the world in my book

2070 is comfy but 2205 is pretty comfy too, especially the arctic.

7.62 Hard Life / High Caliber

It's a tactical game that has more guns than /k/. Buggy and the interface takes a while to figure out but it's pretty fun. It's on sale right now for just over $1

2205 is mega comfy but it just doesn't resonate too well with the previous Anno titles. I really liked how upgrading structures in that game worked but it still didn't feel quite as Anno-ish. I like managing all my boats around on all the islands in one map.

Also I got super bad doorway syndrome in that game. I'd go back to another settlement and the loading screen was so long that I'd always forget why I had come to that settlement. Also also there seems to be no incentive to replay the game. Once you get your moon base up and running it's pretty much 'Good job, game over, you can leave now' and.. I don't know, I just don't really feel like replying it. In 2070 every time I get as high up as I can in a map I get all excited to start a new one with some of the fancy blueprints I made in that game. 2205 just doesn't do that for me.
