Looks like my eyesight is going then. I do recall there being an option to turn off motion shaking when walking. Also, when I say HUD I mean the minimap that spins all over the place when walking. What's up with that weird green border on the corners when dungeon crawling too? Those things really ruined the experience for me.

In terms of dungeons and combat, Persona 5 is easily the best game.
Characters/ S. Links are debatable.
Story is debatable.
Restrictions are more noticable in P5 (with the cat telling you its bedtime after certain activities, unless you max a certain link.), but they all are pretty restricted in the first 5 or so hours when it's introducing the plot and characters. Though a few hours isnt much out of the ~109 you'll probably do in one playthrough.
TL;DR Persona 5 is objectively better in terms of gameplay, but you need to muscle past the introduction to get into it.

P4 has a better story, and once you get past the super slow start it also has much better pacing. Persona 4 also has more freedom. Persona 4 has a better soundtrack with more variety in its ost.

P5 has better dungeons and more polished gameplay. It has a stronger start, and a faster start. P5 has better, more rounded and developed characters. However, it doesn't do much with these characters and it hurts the story and your investment in the characters greatly because of this.

Other than that, they are practically the same game.
