Okay so I've started playing the fallout: new vegas dlc dead money and am near the end.
I've reached the part where I need to enter the Cantina Madrid and kill dog/God except when I enter the Cantina Madrid I immediately die of an explosion.
Is this a glitch? Do I need to do something?

I think so

Not in the DLC, only when you leave
>>
>>381466070
When you finish the DLC and exit the bunker you get your shit back.
>>
is house the best ending for the mojave?
>>
>>381466560
yes
>authoritorian but doesn't care what people do in private
>rules the Mojave and keeps the roads safe
>mantains friendly relations with the NCR while tourists come to Vegas
>can fend off the tunneler invasion
>with enough money from the Dam and NCR tourists he'll be able to take humanity to colonise space
>>
>>381463751
Do you mean when you immediately after you enter? Pretty sure you're supposed to talk to Dog/God first or turn the gas valves in the room.
>>
>>381467202
>authoritarian
What? In no way is he authoritarian, as New Vegas is his private property. He simply enacts rules to his land and the people consent to them by being in his property. If they don't like them they can get out
>>
>>381463751
I had something similar happen, I think if you enter the room while still under the effects of the collar beeping in the previous room, it will continue beeping inside the room with dog and you'll be locked in. It was a glitch.
I reloaded a previous save and made sure the beeping stopped before entering then it was fine.
>>
>>381463751
>Do I need to do something?

Yes. Delete that shitty dlc and do something else.
>>
>>381469906
>Delete that shitty dlc
But he was talking about Dead Money, not OWB.
>>
>>381467202
House was the best til the DLCs came out
if you play your cards right in OWBs, you basically become a cyborg. And with the think tank at your command, you can easily become immortal just like them/house. Maybe even a better version of them, the Institute already showed it's possible to make very, very human like machines. Think Tank could probably whip something like that up for the courier. Plus the other tech in the SM and the tech in Big MT kind of makes House look like a joke.
Wild Card good ending is best ending when you take DLC into account.
>the immortal courier installs SM venders all over New Vegas, literal limitless supplies for everyone, endless army of Securitions thanks to Big MT, advanced auto docs can be imported, and other tech that vastly improves life
>>
>tfw 44
>8 skills at 100
>going through OWB currently

I feel like soon I'll finish this game fully, and I'll have nothing to do for the next year till I replay it again.

>>8 skills at 100

>he didn't go full INT playthrough and have all the worthwhile skills maxed at 40
lmao ur dum
>>
>>381470032
OWB is third best DLC. Implants, lots of OP weapons, and more useful stuff.
>>
>>381469530
He's authoritorian because he wants to rule Vegas for himself and crushes any opposition like the Kings. Still, he's very libertarian when it comes to economic policies other than the part where he gets his fair share of profit from his property like the casinos.
>>
>>381470794
I went with 7 base int + 1 from an implant, I'm already fully maxed at barter, energy weapons, speech, guns, repair, science, lockpick and medicine. Going through explosives now. Sneak is quite high too.
>>
>>381471159
>7 base int + 1 from an implant
>not base of 9 and 10 with implant
lmao ur dumb

>actually putting points in combat skills
lmao go back to the gym/gun range you dumb jock

you can just stealth past everything, have companions deal with enemies, or just use overpowered weapons you have little skill to deal with things.
>>
>>381471078
If the kings mess with his property then he has every right to crush them. He's not authoritarian if he takes care of his property
>>

>The ghost people originate from the construction workers before the Great War who were mutated from the cloud as they worked on the Sierra Madre Villa. They have several ties to inhumane experiments of Big MT. According to data from terminals in the medical section of the Sierra Madre, construction workers at the site first received their hazmat suits specially created in the Big MT after a gas leak sent one of them to the hospital. A terminal in Big MT states that the gas leak itself was also created at Big MT, the hazmat suits being an "experiment within an experiment." The hazmat suit was bulky, nearly impossible to speak through, grew stiff with use, and had locks that, after contact with the Cloud, corroded to the point where the hazmat suit had to be cut open with a cosmic knife, and still didn't provide proper protection from the poisonous gas cloud.

It's only ezmode if you make pump up Survival as a skill and/or take perks like Lead Belly and Them's Good Eatin'. Otherwise food and drink provides very little health, especially with jsawyer since it makes them much less common.

The player is the one claiming the game has unbalanced shit, the game is fine. If you max out Survival you'll obviously get the included benefits. It's kind of how skills in RPGs work.
>>
>>381473310
Get a GOG version. Not saying that you should buy it, just get it. Since you already own it, no reason not to.
>>
>>381473513
You don't even need to max survival to have food give you more health than stimpacks. When you have food/drinks restoring more health than medicine in a mod about realism, then something is wrong anon. You're a casual and a dumbass
>>
>>381473665
>You don't even need to max survival to have food give you more health than stimpacks
Unless you put points into Medicine and get it's intended effects. But no, that makes much too sense. Better to complain.

>>
>>381475654
A mod about "realism" made by the guy who made the video game itself. Sawyer never once called jsawyer a realism mod, it was just his vision of a more challenging NV.
>>
>>381476138
And healing from food items is more challenging how?
>>
>>381466070
Is it just better to arrive to the abandoned Brotherhood bunker with your pockets completely empty?

>If they don't like them they can get out
Hey Housefaf, it's been a whole since I've seen your in these threads. Your posts are always appreciate it, and I mean it.
>>
>>381476215
You don't have to change everything to make the game more challenging. Sawyer obviously wanted food healing in HIS mod on HIS representation of how the game would be better.
>>
>>381476215
Again, food items are considerably more rare and only noticeably more effective if you level Survival. We've come full circle.
>>
>>381472593
Don't forget about the cazadores and nighstalkers.
>>
>>381476426
>he made the mod therefore you cannot wish to change it to your liking for a more challenging experience
Way to make a pointless post

>>381476441
Food items are more common and cheaper than stimpacks.
>kill herd of bighorners
>healing for days
You're right, we have come full circle. Full circle to you still not having a solid defense.
>>
>>381476852
You need to level Survival to make bighorner steaks. Keep trying.
>>
If I'm going down the NCR route, what do I do about the platinum chip? Benny ran off to Caesar's camp and Caesar wants me to do his little mission in return for the chip but I have no intention of doing that. House wants the chip but he's not getting it. Can I just leave that whole thing alone? NCR doesn't need the chip at all.
>>
>>381477332
Just an example. Also I said HC playthrough.

>just completely ignore this blatant flaw
Literal retard
>>
>>381477538
If you're going NCR there's zero harm in doing Caesar's quest because it only effects the Legion and House, and you can take care of Benny once and for all if you like.
>>
>>381477676
Cool thanks, I was just worried doing Caesar's quest might lock me into his route or something.

Looks like I've got some work to do
>>
>>381476710
Pretty much everything mutated/fucked up in Mojave comes from Big MT
>>
>>381477607
It's not a flaw, you're just refusing to use the options available to you. If you didn't level Survival you could get that EXTREME xXHARDCOREXx REALISTIC game because food and water would barely cover HC needs *and* not heal effectively. You could then level Medicine to make Stimpaks your main source of healing.
>>
>>381477753
You get a warning before being locked into any quest lines, don't worry. After completing certain main missions of a faction, you'll be issued a warning about the opposing sides having spies. If you complete any other mission for the opposite side to that who warned you, you'll be locked out of their quests and considered either an enemy or not trustworthy enough to do any more jobs.
>>
>>381477952
At least cyberdogs help people on the Mojave.
>>
>>381478290
Oh sweet, that makes things easier. The only question now is what fate to assign to 'ol Benny.
>>
>>381478042
>lel just ignore it
I'll never understand that mentality.

>food magically healing your wounds is okay for a 'challenge mode' mod
Food items aren't that hard to come by.
>>
>>381478467
Depends.
Wanna be practical?
Carve him up with a machete
Wanna let him die on his own terms?
Battle in the arena so he'll go down happily
Wanna be cruel?
Crucifixion is the way.
Feel like turning the other cheek, or in this case, the forehead?
Kill everyone on the tent and let him go. If you have a stealthboy and a bobby pin you might not have to kill everyone, just run as fast as you can and hope he doesn't die on the way out.
And of you don't want do get your hands dirty you can just leave him there so Caesar decides what to do with him for you.
>>
>>381478667
Christ you're dense. I'll try one more time for your sake:
If you don't want food to be effective at healing don't level Survival
If you want Stimpaks to be more effective at healing level Medicine
If you want to level Survival and not have food be good at healing use whatever mods you want
But the game isn't broken or anything because the Survival and Medicine skill don't do exactly what *you* want
>>
>>381478931
Always best to shoot him with his own gun in my opinion, especially if you're doing a legion run.
>>
>>381479219
I've never been able to pickpocket it away from him, not even using a stealthboy. It's really frustrating.
>>
>>381478931
Well, I am planning to massacre the entire camp with Boone so I'll probably just let him go once it's over.
>>
>>381479325
Really? I've only ever have him take it back once
>>
>>381471964
Play it on hardcore then, stop playing on normal and expecting a challenge.
>>
>>381479373
Then take Boone and kill him in your first go. If you go to the camp and don't kill Benny, by the time you return he'll already be dead.
>>

>>
>>381479828

>>381479795
Khan's (despite being whacked out drug runners) always seemed pretty chill to me.
So yes, chill niggas though
>>
>>381480104
They're only chill when they're not raiding, though. The only reason they're chill in New Vegas is because they're a rabid dogs whose extremities have been cut off; they're defenseless and useless. The only thing that sustains them is selling drugs to the fucking Fiends.
>>
>>381480101
Hmm, I have been wondering what to do about the NCR Prison. Will I get a quest from the NCR to clear it out, or can I just go fuck them up?

Same with the Khans and the Kings, I'm wondering how to get the best for the NCR out of those groups.
>>
>>381474683
>an expert survivalist can keep himself healthier than a person with very little medical knowledge improperly using medical supplies
Works well enough for me, an injection can have completely different levels of efficacy depending on the dose and placement.
So why can't you extend the concept that someone who is a survivalist and knows the benefits of sustenance and properties of herbs and vegetation would keep themselves healthier than someone with medical supplies that is lacking the knowledge to properly use them?
>>
>>381480267
If you want to clear the prision up with the help of the NCR, you need to have a neutral reputation with the Powder Gangers so they won't shoot you on sight. Go to the prison and meet Eddie. He'll give you a couple of jobs.
One is killing a Powder Ganger that went rouge. Afetr that you'll have to scare off a merc. Kill him or convince him to leave. Then, you'll be commanded to go to Primm to check on NCR activity. Here you can get through Speech or Sneak information regarding an inminent assault on the prison. At this point an optional objective will appear, this being ditching the Powder Gangers and joining the NCR to take down the prison. Do that and you'll get to partake in the assault. Don't forget to kill Eddie or else the ending slides will consider the Powder Gangers to still be a threat.

If you can't get missions from the NCR, just kill everyone on your own, though it will be hard at the beginning of the game.
>>
>>381480667

Well, to be fair we got that in 2. And never again because the devs were aware of how little the maps they make are so they avoid making vehicles because they know you could go from one end of the map to the other in less than 5 minutes.

Sure you basically had them in 2 but with the limitations you couldn't do much - basically faster travel and a trunk - now you could do combat etc.

It's just Bethesda games have to be so stuffed with content around every corner theres a cave or sth. - if you span that out, less locations that are developed more with a bigger world map would do them good i think

Hey, everyone, I was honestly reconsidering New Vegas again. But here's my issue, I don't role play as I've seen other roleplay in the game, I have hard time place myself in the world because my own mental gymnastics, as such I often never go into the game blind and never just get lost in exploring I have issue with that, getting to point a to point b has always been a thing for me, I kinda blame my childhood for this as a lot of the games I played, were very direct with how you played like on donkey kong country it's just instant gratification, instead of just taking my time I really want to fix this and truly appreciate the game world, is there a way I unfuck my mental thinking and finally enjoy the game for the proper reasons?

Proper nutrients is a part of the process but you just kinda have to fill In the blanks that is the proper dressing and care part. It's just not a very good idea to have an accurate healing system in a game because it is an idea that appeals to a very niche audience and the bottom line of most games is to be fun.
Finding a stick or similar object plus rope or bandages to make a splint all whilst your character can't walk wouldn't be fun for most people, so they don't implement it.

Hell, I am willing to accept Fallout 3's events as canon, but 4's my limit. There's so little care about the lore of the series that it could be its own universe altogether. I could see that. He'll ask to see certain things from civilised lands, and you'd get two options, one where he just learns about the world or one that slowly corrupts him.

The endings would either be travelling back to his tribe and telling them about his travels, or wandering out into the wastes to see more of it.

HH is the most simple, but Joshua Graham and the Survivalist really make it stand out.

Dog was the one that put collars on everyone, so he probably managed to avoid running into him until recently. He's not really the sort to admit he let a dumb bastard like Dog strap a bomb to his neck

Fallout 4 let you end far harbor early by tellin the bos/institute about the synths. At the very least they could have made a similar shortened version for legion characters on a small timescale (maybe availiable only when you have to choose to kill/flee the white legs?) that makes you kill every named char in zion

Probably at Helios One. I saw him looking at me through the fence when I was out by the dishes and he entered the side door. I decided to run all the way back through the main dish building and tcl down to the ground. I hit a Legion death squad around the gas station near there and as soon as I hear "The Ceasar has marked you..." there in the top left corner was Malcolm's hat. Two of the assassins broke off and fought him and although i manage to save him he gets blindsided by an ant.

The intricacy of it all is what made it so funny.

This actually makes Legion look worse. It's just a sharpened upres, except for the fucking shoes which he made have red laces for whatever reason.

New Vegas literally has nothing new to talk about, isn't topical enough to deserve recurring threads every single day, and the threads dedicated to it are nothing but circle jerks on shit that's been discussed to the heat-death of the universe.

>authoritorian but doesn't care what people do in private
Not true, Being a revivalist authoritarian inherently contradicts a libertarian society. By being revivalist, he is destroying the Mojave because humanity is rapidly adapting to their Environment, via FEV
>>rules the Mojave and keeps the roads safe
Yes, but even Yes Man and Caesars Legion do that too.
>mantains friendly relations with the NCR while tourists come to Vegas
The NCR wanted him dead in order to take over the Mojave. They're not going to have a change of heart because he controls it now.
>can fend off the tunneler invasion
Agreed, probably the biggest plus to him being the best ending for the mojave
>with enough money from the Dam and NCR tourists he'll be able to take humanity to colonise space
What did he mean by this?

You're doing it wrong. It was literally designed to be used in hardcore mode.

I think the red laces are neat.
I did a side-by side comparison and yeah this is true for most of the parts of the armor, some are weird though. Like it isn't quite just that, but it might as well be in the end.

Because you willingly forget past conversations to create the illusion of new discussions. How many times have you re-iterated the debate between the House or Legion? How many times have you shitposted about MUH BEAR MUH BULL? How many times have you bashed Veronica for the fact that she's voiced by Felicia Day?
Nihil sub sole novum.

>willingly forget past conversations to create the illusion of new discussions
Because we're all the same people and we're always here and it's always the exact same people browsing /v/ at the exact same moment and deciding to stop and post in a fallout thread? How many times have *I* done any of those things? Maybe once I've defended the Legion, but those others aren't really topics I touch.

I've never seen "/v/ is one person" implied so literally.

The story content in the DLCs is very good, and somewhat forms a single narrative (somewhat).
As you can probably see from the other posters in this thread, everyone has their own opinions on the best and worst DLC. Strong opinions.
Pretty much all you can get people to agree on is Lonesome Road is the worst. That doesn't necessarily mean Lonesome Road is bad, though, and you might thoroughly enjoy it for the attempt at closure it gives to the Courier's character arc.
Play them in release order, see what the fuss is about.
