Is Rondo easier than CV1? I'd rather not be playing two classic style CV games at the same time, but given I don't often feel like trying to make progress on CV1 I might start Rondo on Dracula X

Richter control about the same as Simon, only real difference is Richter can backflip. I found RoB easier than Castlevania 1, but I started with 1 and 3 so I had lots of experience going into RoB. I guess RoB is slightly easier than 1, but if your having lots of trouble in 1 you will probably get stuck in RoB as well, probably at stage 6 with the boss rush.

There are 3 tipes of Castlevania. You have:

Classicvanias: 2d Platformer action games. Play 1, 3, bloodlines, Super. The best one is Rondo of Blood

Metroidvanias: Like Classicvanias but with a big ammount of exploration and abilities unlocking. Every Metroidvania is good. Play them all. The GBA trilogy, the NDS trilogy. The best one is SOTN

3Dvanias: these games were never thaat good. you have the N64 titles, but the best ones in my opinion are the ps2 titles. Lords of Shadow is shit.

Lords of Shadow ain't that bad. I might have given up on the first one if I wasn't so intrigued to see the story play out. Lords of Shadow 2 was an improvement in some ways and I found it easier to keep playing than the first.
