Sure. I think RE7 is mediocre as fuck and Evil Within is a great game.

Most of my issues with RE7 all come down to how little it does. There's pitiful enemy variety and locations are so small and easy to navigate. The main house in particular was so disappointingly small. Jack Baker, the best part of the game who gave the game wonderful tension was restricted to the main hall and one wing of the house.

I still enjoyed RE7 but I'd be lying if I said I was satisfied with it.

The difficulty and flow of combat. It feels satisfying as hell to shoot when each shot has an impact. Improvising on the spot to deal with groups of enemies while conserving the most amount of ammo feels thrilling. Timing the use of matches to burn other haunted in close proximity was a great risk/reward move.

I was disappointed at first in how the game rushed you through to location after location but I learned to roll with it. At the end, I was impressed with how much location variety there was and how much more action oriented it gets.

I'd say the worst parts of the game was the chapter on the bus and Ruvik's stalking in the mansion.

Get Alien Isolation. I cannot recommend it enough.

Alan Wake might be worth checking out if it's available to buy. It's an average game though with it's atmosphere/world being it's only saving graces.
