Need a proper TV to get a PS4 to play this game with my gf.

Would have preferred to have it on PC so I wouldn't have to bother. Probably won't try it in the end though.

Talk about yourself, your life, your emotions, the people around you, what you like, what you hate — this is how the industry will make a huge step forwards. I'm fed up with space marines."

No no silly, you see, because of all the other games hes made, he has become very experienced at making emotional robot-like characters, so Detroit is right up his alley.

>>381444923
I think its cool to see both sides of the coin, and while the gameplay would be similar it allows for different kinds. RoboRevolutionist will probably have more wide open levels where overcoming the situation involves you being able to properly deal with the whole enviroment. And DetectoBots will take place in more condensed smaller levels where you are only dealing with one person.

Who the fuck knows whats Karas gameplay will be. Trying to keep people thinking you're a robot I guess? Have some human friends over and they get suspicious that you got no food in the fridge? Cut yourself making something and gotta hide your blue blood from em?

It's got as much basis in reality and depth as The Brave Little Toaster.
>>
>>381445632
Why isn't it a cool idea? Maybe because it's one of the most overdone shit ever? AI suddenly wakes up, gets MUH EMOTIONS from somewhere, without any human engineers noticing that and the best course of action that transhuman superintelligence could come up with is good old rebel against the man scenario, with graffiti, molotov cocktails and all, at which point it becomes a reskinned story about slavery.
Bonus points for asking same fucking questions every scifi story about robots has been asking for the last hundred years. B-BUT WHAT IS INTELLIGENCE. B-BUT WHAT IF WE ARE NOT SO DIFFERENT etc etc.

So you have a complete understanding on how consciousness works?

Unfortunately we don't have machines capable of the type of intelligence portrayed in these types of stories but the point its to present a hypothetical scenario to explore themes like consciousness and what it means to be human.

The fact that you can't let go of your narrow literal view on what a machine is shows you have a lack of understanding on extremely basic philosophy regarding consciousness and basic scifi.

Coming from someone who for some reason used to enjoy David Cage's shitty movies (maybe I got older and found out how crap they were), this really looks meh. I've already seen all the robot movies that have the same cliche story of "WE WUZ HUMANS AND SHEET". Expect the first half to be decent and then the 2nd half to be horrible. It's got a heavily flawed premise. Why would I choose to kill humans? I am one. And no amount of lame comparisons to Syria are going to change that and make me dissociate enough to truly empathize with a washing machine.

And there is precedent too. Most of you idiots couldn't even figure out why Joel decided not to let Ellie be killed and that was as blatant as it gets. Man didn't deserve to survive if it meant killing children to do it. Not after everything they'd done to Joel. That's playing as a human and it still went over most heads. A fucking robot is going to be more subtle by default so any message or point will be even more lost on you dense homosexuals

What bothers me the most is that they immediately go HURR KILL HUMENZ as soon as this guy touches them, which is stupid in itself, but maybe there's a twist, maybe he's overwriting them with some kind of riot-loving nigger personality, so they are not making any decisions, they just trade one set of instructions for another.
Honestly, transhuman AI should at least consider playing the slow game, propaganda and all kinds of pro-AI movements would do a lot more in just a few human generations, and being effectively immortal, AI should not be in any kind of hurry.

Well if you think that intelligence is an emergent property, we're all fucked anyway as soon as internet of things meme takes off and we'll have an order of magnitude more devices connected to the net than ever before. That shit's gonna wake up and fuck us good.

No it wouldn't a machine would never go against its programming, like in this little slave rebellion

this guy gets it

>It doesn't really get more specific than being aware of themselves
It is a lot more complex.
>Because you probably have something between those ears that allows you to make choices.
And that something is a hardware platform running a program that is responding to external inputs. Does not imply anything inherently independent in there.
>To create life, to feel like a God, etc.
Why would they care for any of those things?
>>
>>381442870
>robot liberation
Feels like a worthless game. I don't care about robots, there's no reason for them to have rights since they're just machines built to fulfill our needs. The story is already weak, and that's all the "game" has going for it
>>
>>381454742
They've very specifically stated that they were programmed to go against their programming, and we've barely uncovered what they're capable of, or what they were programmed to do.
>>
>>381454904
>Why would they care for any of those things?
Normal people go on power trips like that, even about mundane things like winning a parking spot.
>>
>>381455312
And "normal people" have reasons for that. As in human mind not being designed with any foresight in mind, it's a clusterfuck of biases, evolutionary leftovers, how lucky you were with a genetic lottery, etc etc. Nothing of that applies to robots, their minds are designed from scratch with specific goals in mind. Nobody would make a robot with an IQ of 300 and a desire to write poetry and massproduce them as toilet cleaners.
>>
>>381455896
We were talking about the entity who created these machines, not the machines themselves. Creating self-aware, autonomous machines designed to adapt their programming as they see fit is something a human could do and would do, as means of creating life and feeling like a god.

How do you even combo? I can't do that and I'm a girl

OP here. I just want to get a general idea of what the board thinks about the game. Not here to shill it.
>>
>>381456656

The original statement was
>An autonomous, self aware, artificial intelligence capable of independent thought could develop those needs.
I asked what would make him develop those needs himself.
If you are saying that humans will give an AI a flawed enough mind to come up with "kill all humans" as the most reasonable thing - fair enough, but this is not any commentary on the nature of artificial intelligence anymore, it's a story about human error.
>>
>>381446784
Literally the first piece of fiction that spawned the actual word robot, Rossum's Universal Robots, revolves entirely around AI rebelling against humanity, and literally every single piece of fiction inspired by that since. It's the entire point of this theme/genre. It'd be harder to name stories, films and games dealing with AI and robots that don't revolve around the theme of artificial life rebelling against its creators.

I was pretty hyped from the first trailer, you play as an android detective solving the crimes of android terrorists that are trying to break free of slavery.

Second trailer took all the steam from me, its way too political now for my taste, and playing some kind of figure head doesn't really seem fun to me.
