cry some more, faggot.

They aren't even paid mods, which you'd know if you actually knew what the phrase 'development pipeline' referred to

It's crowdsourced DLC.

I fully expect Jewseda to nickel and dime us, I expect it to be Horse Armor 2.0, but it's not going to be paid mods.

so then what are mods?

Mods are downloadable content created or sourced by parties external to the original developers, who some would describe as a crowd

I unironically admire todd howards creations and his marketing ability. Skyrim at the time was an incredible feat of T E C H N O L O G Y and with the help of mods can still hold up as a game despite it's glaring flaws. All I gotta say is, no game has a good launch.

not only that

>the games will be less moddable for legal reasons
>bethesda can't be making money with custom content in mods that 90% of was made with pirated software, max, maya, mudbox, zbrush, photoshop etc
>for legal reasons, mods will be "vanilla" content only
>this means no new weapons, creatures, animations, textures etc
>these would be restricted entirely, even free mods, or else people would just download them and ignore bethesdas paid mods

Can't wait senpai
>>
>>381421392
mods are fan made modifications to the original game with no guarantee of stability or tech support

DLC is a product that is designed to work with a game, which has an explicit contract between the purchaser and the seller.

You seriously expect those to be full fledged DLCs like Dawnguard instead of paying for a shitty Link costume with textures made in Paint?
>>
>>381423134
I fucking hate Skyrim and paid mods are a retarded idea. But the thing they wanted to introduce would have at least some quality control, right? Even I trust Bethesda enough to not put fucking paint textures on there
>>
>>381421862
I don't get how people aren't just aware of this.

You won't get shit like the below video any more, because if the modder is getting directly, professionally paid for it they'll no longer sit under the shield of fair use, parody or artistic licence.

If we wanted to find a way to pay modders (who make some fucking outstanding shit) the better bet would have been to just encourage a stronger donation-based approach from the player community, not this "eh badda bing you take a dime I'll take the dollar no copyright content capeesh" bullshit.

Then again we've been living in a world where people will take days out of their lives to produce fixes for software, cracks for DRM content, mods and unofficial patches for games and software, and if you have a problem you can just search for someone else who solved it ahead of you. That's a community worth doing everything we can to preserve.

>>381423703
I'm not totally sure but I think he meant that it won't be mod creators making mods that they think would be cool and uploading them to Bethesda's platform, but rather that Bethesda says they want a certain type of content and waiting for the modders to make it
>>
>>381423917
I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.
>>
>>381423917
>Modders deserve to get constipated
Well that's a new kinda butthurt.
>>
>>381423134
When one of the only modders we know is in the creation club has made lots of dlc sized mods, sure.

Hopefully it sorts itself out anyway, I don't see why anyone would buy low quality mods, cosmetic shit or simple armor or weapons, ideally people would only buy stuff that is worth their money, like large scale quest mods, so they would be the mods they prioritise.

Except you have to test that it works perfectly without bugs and actually is compatible with everything else that you add to the game which they said themselves, and Bethesda is horrible at that. Even a texture can bug out.

I wasn't trying to make some grand point about Bethesda getting their shit together, I was merely saying even Bethesda would be able to spot that a Link costume with MSPaint textures was maybe not worth being put up as a paid mod
>>
>>381424543
They made horse armor, they have no quality standards. Not that it would matter because the main point at hand is that there's no redeeming attribute about this at all, much less one that outdoes the fact that these are paid mods.

Also Bethesda's own Link costume looks like garbage.

I'm very surprised that they decided to introduce the idea of paid mods. This is very anti consumer, considering that mods have always been available for free.

If this does become a practice prepare your wallets for the next games to just be a room with the optional mod of going outside for an extra $60, 20000 skyrim points or however they
decide to dress up their fake currency.

Get over it you fucking socialist reject, the modders put time and effort into creating content for people to enjoy and should be able to get paid for their work. Just because you crybaby socialists think you're entitled to free shit without putting the effort in doesn't mean they have to bend over backwards for you, get a job and pay for things like a real adult.

The only people who are against paid mods are communist Reddit users, the consumer is never right.

As long as the mods can't go through the steam workshop or potentially use steam wallet funds the market for paid mods on PC is going to be unnoticeable.
They could streamline and try to popularize the process all they want, the amount of people who'll be willing to go through their shitty site to buy mods will be minuscule at best.
Consoles might be different since they can force anyone who wants mods on them to go through whatever hoops they wish.
>>
>>381424180
>don't see why anyone would buy low quality mods, cosmetic shit or simple armor or weapons
Bethshit might attempt to control the flow of microtransactions at first, but by the time their next game is released the flood gates will be completely open for literally anything and they're going to make bank without putting in any effort themselves.
