Oxymoron
>jrpg

No, not really. An oxymoron would be "what are some Western JRPGs?"
>>381399876
protip there is no such thing as a "western" rpg and "jrpg" has nothing to do with where it was made

I'm not sure if you're being an oxymoron or just a normal moron

Never go full retarded.
>>381399872
i'm not interested in that right now man.. where's your argument going with that anyway if you have one

Not him but he's right: JRPG might have started as a country of origin indicator, but it's become more of a genre. Dark Souls, for instance, is a RPG made in Japan, but no one would call it a JRPG, because it doesn't belong to that genre

"Jrpg" is some kind of subgenre of adventure games and casual rpg mechanics/systems but it's moreso defined by cliches and tropes than anything else and not geography even if it came about in japan after they got a hold of wizardry, ultima, might and magic etc and brought that kind of gameplay to consoles

Steam is cancer, consider suicide

FF XIII trilogy - controversial, try them for yourself. Some love the more nuanced combat (for FF standards) and linearity that prevents grinding, some hate it and wanted a more "classic" RPG.
Trails games - an acquired taste. The pacing is slow and story spans multiple games but most people agree that the world building makes up for it.
Tales of Berseria - good story reminiscent of Berserk that maintains a brisk pace for well over 50 hours, one of the best casts ever. Your mileage may vary with the gameplay and music. Zestiria is decidedly Mediocre but playing it first enhances Berseria (they take place in the same universe with callbacks and parallels between the two).
Tales of Symphonia - one of the best GC/PS2 era JRPGs, port is solid when you grab the fix but locked at 30FPS. If you value 60FPS more than extra content and dual audio emulate the GC version instead.
Ys series - generally great action RPGs with inventive boss battles and music. Not much going on story-wise.
I've heard Phantasy Star IV is really great and all but PS1 are available on Steam. May not be accurate emulations though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. You're gonna make the kids cry though.
