Going for the 5hr steel souls run but my anus is getting torn apart. What's a smart path to take? So far I've been trying:

>crystal heart (super dash)
>dream nail
>nail art from greenpath
>fix broken nail

What I do is go for the shadow dash asap before fighting any optional bosses. It helps me a lot against them, but it's up to you. So you'd need the super dash to get the double jump from the basin and then make your way to fight Hornet 2 to unlock the abyss
Also the game saves whenever you pick something up, so you're going to have to manually climb out of there
