there is no differentiation of the designs between the games and mediums he's drawing in.

he only worked as a character designer back when games weren't powerful enough to accurately depict them

his designs were great when filtered through the pixel artists of the time, he's sort of like Amano in that regard

Dragon Quest is my favorite game series and I grew up with Dragonball so I love him.

Fun Fact: his bideo juego artwork is better than his animu artwork

Another Fun Fact: Toriyama rarely does art anymore, he has a team of inbetweeners that know his style enough to do all the legwork, similar to Ghibli still looking like Miyazaki's art but him not having anything to do with it.

Because people like his artstyle, that's why he's been the main artist for Dragon Quest, the most popular rpg in japan, since the beginning.
The real question is why complain about it when he doesn't even do that many video game designs.
