A lot of the guns in HL2 are kind of like this, in retrospect. On hard, at least.

SMG sucks from the moment you get it. AR2 vaguely works but 90% of the time you're just better off sniping with the revolver or crossbow or rushing in with shotgun alt fire.

I never played half life, but the guns were satisfying to use in TTT even though they were floaty. They just felt right with the movement system, and especially with the instant crouch

How to spot a noguns retard.

The pump is used to manually cycle the action, no matter if it's tube or mag fed. Helpful for lower pressured rounds that wouldn't fully cycle a semi automatic action.

The Negev is actually really strong at medium to close range, but it's so expensive and it still lags behind the rifles in terms of viability. I'd still say the two LMGs are better than the low tier rifles.

My least favorite gun in CS will always be the glock. Thing is inaccurate and hits like trash, I always go tec9 on terrorist pistol round because trying to get a glock kill requires like 10 upper body hits.

The SMG really drags down HL2's overall shooting honestly. They took the weapon designs from HL1 and slapped them into a fairly different game with little to no thought on how they would work at the longer ranges. The end result is them making an unfun gun that's only good fairly close up as the work horse weapon.

I'll never understand why they felt the need to copy all of the dull, common weapons from HL1.
