That might be their strategy, making their old games available on many platforms so people get as many chances to experience them, but make future games exclusive to their console. SEGA did say recently that they want to bring back old IP's, so they could try to sell a new console with new installments of classic SEGA IP's.

To be honest, I don't think Atari's console will shape up to be anything more than a glorified Android TV box. They simply don't have the necessary funds to maintain a traditional console infrastructure. SEGA, however, has been doing really well recently and their games are great again. This seems to be attributed to their new CEO, and he looks young (can't really be sure with these Japanese), so he may certainly be more open-minded about such things.

I realize making a console would most likely be a waste, but I'd still like them to make one. Here's my problem, and no doubt many other people's problem, Sony and Microsoft are complete garbage with awful policies and focus on graphics and teraflops. Nintendo is starting to introduce some of these policies as well. I think people are kinda burned out on the types of games Sony and Microsoft are selling, while Nintendo is seen as childish by many people. SEGA would fit nicely in here as their games tend to be fast paced and arcade in nature, while still having a maturish look to them. I think a lot of people would buy a SEGA console if it had the right games on it.
