Previous crowdsourced games that have turned out to be huge disappointments/scams have made people skeptical about funding future projects. People don't want another Mighty No 9.
Also, I feel like devs are showing that their one-trick ponies. Inafune made not-Mega Man. IGA's making not-Castlevania. Garriott's making not-Ultima. This guy was trying to make not-Parappa the Rapper. Instead of trying to get fans to fund your remake of your classic IPs under a new copyright, why not just make truly unique, original games?

Publishers are the biggest cunts. They will use this to say that there is no demand for a spiritual successor to Gitaroo Man or Parappa the Rapper while being knowingly evasive about the fact that they create the demand through massive marketing campaigns that target the exact audience who would be interested in this title.

The industry is controlled by a bunch of slobs who were promoted to a position they're not qualified for and can't be demoted. These people stay at a company for 5-7 years, implement something that looks big and cost saving to the shareholders and then fuck off to another company to repeat the same cycle. In their wake, they leave behind all these stupid policies that need to implemented into each project and a massive turnover of talented staff that forces veteran designers to panhandle on pathetic platforms like Kickstarter.
