Resolution is not the only factor nigger

Ambient Occlusion is a trick where only things that are visible to the camera are rendered thus saving GPU cycles and memory. When you have four different cameras a lot more has to be rendered and thus retained in memory.

Also I did not experience any skips when playing 4-player mode. But my Switch is also still on 1.0 and never connected to the internet.

I mean, have you ever played a split-screen game?

Think about the resolution for a moment, if what you say is true, wouldn't each player actually be playing at 30FPS at a quarter of the 1920, or 720 resolution? In that case, it would actually just be running the game normally, which, again, does not match your logic.

I think most people are forgetting that we're talking about MARIO KART of all things. It is a game clearly designed for parties and four players in mind. But the game runs horribly with four players, like, it's impossible to play the game at anything but a steady 60fps.

It's no different than smash bros. dropping to 30fps if there are four players playing at once.

I understand that, but I'm not focused on graphics with this debate, I'm talking about gameplay and game design. From a design perspective, MK8 and Smash are meant to be enjoyed with four players. But Nintendo failed to optimize MK8 because they focused too much on graphics. That's what makes this unacceptable.
