There are so many directions they could take with the story. I really hope Koizumi wasn't too busy because I have very high hopes and am going to be disappointed if he didn't write it.

Anyone else think the level-design looks like garbage? I saw almost no real platforming in the trailers, I don't want Mario to be some pseudo open world running simulator. Also all the real-life stuff like cities and dinosaurs is fucking boring. I want tighter levels with interesting setting, unique enemies and challenging platforming instead of this xbox-huge bullshit they showed us.

well, they don't show us anything from mid-end game. Also, just like sunshine, there are specific challenges created outside of these worlds which you need to finish to get moons. These challenges are platformy :)

I think that the worlds are too large. Why the fuck does a Mario game need worlds so large you need a scooter? But those parts mostly look like filler between the actual levels.
The Bullet Bill level looks extremely slow, simplistic, and dull(like /v/), and the fact that you beat the new wriggler in a tank is off-putting.

I think it's different for a Mario game because normally there's one central hub with sub-sections that lead to self-contained levels. Whereas Odyssey seems to have several mini-hubs that seamlessly transition into more traditional platforming areas. Whether it'll work out remains to be seen, but I expect that the more "complex" areas will be later in the game and probably optional.

I hate Mario. I like Luigi. Green is my favorite color so when I was a kid I always wanted to play as Luigi. I did not like Luigi's mansion. I wanted something like Sunshine or Mario 64, but with Luigi. Luigi was then in SMG, but you had to beat it first as Mairo.

I understand Mario is the mascot, but give Luigi a traditional game. Super Luigi U was a fucking joke. Those Mario games sucked.

There are plenty of paths that lead you to linear platforming sections in the demo. New Donk City is the most hub-like level, with no enemies in sight during daytime. You go dick around and explore and can find moons, or hidden entrances to short platforming challenges, just like Delfino Plaza.
