Name one reason a video game crash would actually be beneficial and not just an open window for heavy anti-consumer pushes and further decay of the industry.
The 70s and 80s were totally different times. It was a saturation of home consoles that gave Nintendo the opportunity to come in with a catchy slogan and name the NES an "entertainment system" for children rather than an adult/teenager audience others aimed for.
If another crash happened, there would be no positive outcome or phoenix to rise from the ashes.
