I say get it now, there's a decent amount of games to keep you interested until XC2's release, and you may end up liking it more than you thought.

And if you find one, you'll be lucky as they're pretty difficult to find in the first place.

Do you want to just play Xenoblade, or do you want to play Xenoblade and some of the online titles? If you're looking forward to playing online as well, then just pick one up now when it gets into stock and then buy MK8DX/ARMS/Pokken or whatever else you are interested in. Their online should be active enough right now to keep you busy for months.

If you are just looking at single player, then don't worry about the Switch until a bit before Xenoblade launches. Zelda: Breath of the Wild will still be getting new copies published on Switch by then, so no concerns about that game disappearing.
