I thought the MIDI soundtrack was supposed to be some kind of staple for the Dragon Quest series. The Japanese version of DQ8 had a midi soundtrack and orchestrated for western release. Who knows, maybe they'll do it again for DQ11.

Theres also zone attacks. They like limit breaks, plus you can link two characters zone attacks into another more powerful attack.
