Honestly I think Im okay with this. As much as I want a new game if they're going to expand on the universe I really don't see the point. That new game may as well have been a new IP. A cool new IP but certainly not ZOE.

Plus at the end of day? It had a good run. 2 main games a fun little GBA spinoff title and two solid animes? That ain't bad.

I bought the collection on PS3, then never even put it in because of how shit I heard it was, always wanted to play them but I hear they're actually pretty bland mecha brawlers/vs games.

Maybe it's just my age but what's wrong with being short and straightforward? I know everything is about big huge open sand box worlds these days but a linear game can create a great experience by allowing the developers more control and while the games are very short they never feel tedious or like work because there's no padding. Saying your game is 60 hours long looks nice on a box but when half that time is just spent doing the same shit or is filler Id rather play a nice short game.

I played ZoE1 and the only thing I liked about it was the OST and mecha designs. I really didn't think it was a very good game at all, very much felt like a early gen game.

People say ZoE2 is much better but after 1 I really didn't feel like playing more and I never went back.

ZoE1 is a mixed bag. A great OST and some cool mechs are all it has going for it. They tried pretty hard to shoe-horn in stealth elements and the backtracking wasn't great either. Not to mention the horrible localization.

The 2nd game however is better in every conceivable way (aside from a just as poor localization). No more forced stealth, no back-tracking in favor of linearity, anime cutscenes instead of the weird 3D models, better visual style, an even better OST, and much faster gameplay.

The first one sold a fair amount because it came with the demo disc for Metal Gear Solid 2.

The second one wasn't as successful and is harder to find.

As for the two endings in Fist of Mars, which one you get is dependent on how many enemy units you take out when the Mars Girls challenge you to see who can take out more. Take out less than them, you get put on the bad end route

The first game is flawed, but clearly showed a vision. It's not very long so you can just go through it, it's fine.

The second game improves upon everything the first needed - it's combat is so much smoother and refined, good art design, good OST, never cared for the story myself, but the game is genuinely great. Good replay value too with extra missions and unlockable mechs.
