It shows when the monster is enraged (heartbeat fast, orange) and when he's weak, about to flee (heartbeat low)
Think of it as a permanent and cool version of capture guru, allows you to know when to capture him, but I guess this one also work on uncapturable monster (ancien dragons and such)
