I don't know who's trolling who anymore. I've been playing since MH2 and it has never been the hardcore experience people make it out to be besides some wonky hitboxes until Tri. On top of that, I usually hunt solo if I want more challenge. Multiplayer is casual mode no matter how hard you will try to refute this. And I am pretty damned sure that the people complaining about what looks like a natural evolution from 4U and call it "casualised" are the same people that constantly ran 4 player hame rooms or never cleared a G-Rank quest alone. These threads are filled to the brim with falseflagging shitposters, consolewar kiddies and people that are casual to their core and don't want to admit it.

And nobody ever forced anyone to use Hunter Arts or pick any style besides Guild except babbies who cry "muh dps"

Scout flies are just Psychoserums/Balloon reworked into the environment. Walking while healing might be a good change if the monsters don't step and turn anymore, and we're gonna need to see more gameplay to be able to judge it fairly. Changing equipment at base camp is not forced on you by any game mechanic in place, and can be ignored if you so desire just like Hunter Arts and Styles sans Guild.

This post is correct. MH games are only "hard" because people arent used to enemies in games dealing that much damage, and missions taking so long. Actually failing a mission in multiplayer is so rare.

If you want difficulty soloing some G ranks forces you to be attacking the monster 90% of the mission lest you run out of time. Getting hit not only means you might die, but that you lose time you could be dealing damage. 99.999% of the player base has not even attempted to do such a thing, so complaining about difficulty is pointless. Flexing gave the game character sure but it didnt actually add any difficulty beyond when youre still learning.

Pulsebar im not a huge fan of though. I really liked not knowing how much damage I was doing and all that. Makes the game feel like more of an actual hunt than any other rpg bossfight where you instantly know if your dps is lacking.

Natural evolution of the game getting harder. The only fucking reason stopping to heal worked in the first place is because monster used to move in retardedly predictable ways.
(E.g. Truns 2x then charges, tail whip exactly this far, etc.)
You could predict attacks and movement down to their angle, no longer possible now cause everything is more fluid and unpredictable, the game got harder. Make sense that you can heal while moving now.
You used to have to stop to heal in Dark Souls 1 (Souls bosses are literally monster hunter bosses) but were able to heal while moving in every other Souls game, and guess what, Dark Souls 1 is the easiest one by fucking far. (except demons duh)

Natural evolution of the game now being on consol/PC. Hunts aren't supposed to take 15-20 minutes anymore, you're supposed to stay in the mission area way longer now, hunt multiple different things. It's not like you'd change weapon mid hunt on a single monster, once you know it's weakness you're always gonna use the weapon best suited for it, literally the only thing this takes away is the loading screen after quitting to town to change your gear.
This is a good change, nothing changes on difficulty.

Looking at the rathalos in what we have been shown so far he still has the same timing he has had in previous games, i predicted most of his moves during the gameplay.
I mean this could be just for the demo but it looked like we still had all the same turns and distances as before.

What's so terribly different about luring a monster into a trap that's already there than luring a monster into a trap you place your self, enviromental interaction is a great addition. this isn't even new. Same thing as making a basarios run into exploding rocks, or making a diabolos run into a wall so he gets stuck.

I've played like 500h+ on every MH since Freedom 1, and this game seriously looks like the best thing to happen to the series in a while. Make Monster Hunter feel more like the old intro cutscenes, actually going on a "Hunt", and stop to try and turn it into a character action game. They can do that with Dragon's Dogma and I'll happily enjoy that, but this isn't what monster hunter is about.

The devs explained in the demo earlier today that they added the scout flies because they found themselves getting lost because of the new core concept they wanted to implement, 探索/search.

What's good about this is, say you can turn off scout flies or not "use" them; then you can follow prints and saliva trails on your own, though you'd likely often run out of quest time.

Monster Hunter let's you a carry metric fuckload of healing items at a time, it's rare that anyone would actually die from running out of healing items unless you're doing one of those crazy 5 monster, 2 at a time in the arena solo quests.
When you die it's because you fucked up and got hit by too many things in a row and didn't time your healing right.

By completely removing flexing and letting you heal at nearly full walk speed any difficulty is gone. Oh you got hit by rajang and need to heal? No worries, if he tries to fuck beam you just walk away lol.
Got poisoned by garuga and gotta take an antidote? Ez pz, you can just walk to the side if he tries to charge you while healing.

Hell in F/FU you could pitfall a monster (or sonic a diablos), KO while it is in the pitfall, it would enter KO for massive free damage then the pitfall animation would reset after the KO and it would continue to flail about for more free damage.
In Gen, thanks to the addition of full house for gunners, you can trap a monster, hit it with two or 3 stun shots to bring it right to it's stun threshold, full house to go back to DPS then as it flies out of the trap switch back to the fully loaded set of stuns shoot it one more time and stun it out of the air. The monster falls down, goes into the knock down animation, resets to a neutral position then goes into the paralysis.
Traps are OP and easy as fuck to use.

All I ever needed to know about a monster was:

The first two are important to the fight, the third one somewhat, but can be ignored depending on which weapon you use, while the rest are immaterial to it.
There are a few exceptions with breakables though.

Most of the game is about knowing your prey and timing. The movesets are well telegraphed with the monster roars, most of them at least, so you should be able to dodge them. It's like bullfighting. A lot of being aware about the monster, its position etc. is needed.

I'm sure you've seen videos of Lance/GL users just walking to dodge Diablos' attacks. That's not strategy at all in action, that's knowing the movesets intimately.

Monster Hunter is an interesting series because it is a very deliberate one. The games are less about flashy action and more about intimately knowing the monsters movesets and your own. It is more like a dance between the monster(s) and the player. There is a "weight" and slowness to all of your actions but the monsters are obvious once you know their patterns. The slowness even extends outside of the hunting, for example when changing items in you inventory there is always a sort of delay after you do an input.

I'm not sure what people have against the flex animation. It fits within the tone of the series and is obviously there to make the player have to find the right time to heal. You can say that the player can just change areas but what about when you are in the arena or the later maps? Leaving the area is not always an option unless you have a farcaster of which you can only bring one.

I dunno, maybe my opinion is biased since the lance is my favorite weapon, I'm always moving deliberately. Still, I think that in terms of the mechanics the series is closer to Punch-Out than it is to DMC, because tells and patterns are king
