>IOI is now independent from Square Enix
>STILL has the always online DRM bullshit activated for HITMAN 2016
Really gets your noggin joggin.

isnt this because of some contract thing?
I don't understand the problem. I've played the game fine while my internet was disconnected, so it's not a requirement.
Unless it's some authorisation thing when you first get the game but who doesn't have internet these days? Only other group who'd complain are the ones who'd just pirate it.
>>381158014
It's literally built into the game, so yeah.

Always-on is never okay and I remember when /v/ used to eviscerate games like Asscreed, Diablo 3, and Simcity 13 just for having it.

That's because this shit was IO's idea.
Note how not a single other Squeenix title has Always Online DRM on PC. At worst they have Denuvo and that's it.
This shit has Denuvo+Always Online DRM.
IO can burn for all I care.
Only just independent.
They made online go from you're unable to use your advanced equipment to being able to use it.
I'm not bothered by it because I actually buy my games :^)
Because that game would still belong to Square.

That brings up a worrying point: Would Season 2 have to be a separate game because if IO doesn't technically own the original?
It's actually not always online, but yeah, it's still an annoying, unecessary system.

Contracts was made over 10 years ago
