What are some good squad-based strategy games like X-COM/Xenonauts?

Jagged Alliance 2 is one of the most well known ones, it's mostly centered around gorrilla warfare as you'll spend most of your early game scraping for gear and trying to always put your mercs in a favourable position like Night Ops or CQC. The game has a pretty good modding community and one mod is regarded as a must have by a lot of people (1.13).
Fallout Tactics is an obvious one too.
Silent Storm is also very good if WW2 sounds compelling to you.

Slavs also made some very good ones, namely Marauder and 7.62 Hard Life, however they are typically poorly coded N64 Emulator janky slavshit that has a pretty steep learning curve.
