Why is it suddenly cool to say the Sonic games were never good?

It's just a new counterculture for snowflake edgelords who think they're unique.

I've been pretty fucking consistent about the Sonic series for the majority of my life, and I'll be 27 soon.

>Sonic 1 sucked
>Sonic 2 was good
>Sonic 3 and Knuckles is the greatest Sonic game ever made
>90% of the series is just forgettable garbage
>Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 aged very poorly but are still fun for nostalgic reasons
>Anything modern is awful and only barely fixes the problems of the one before it (although Unleashed was leaps and bounds above 06)
>Generations was better than people give credit
>I never played Lost World

Everything up to Sonic Heroes was good

It's not hard to imagine why people think so when Sonic has been bad far longer than he's been good. Most of the post-95 games that you could call decent without any strings attached aren't even made by Sonic Team.
The last bit is probably why people are excited for Mania.
