Yeah sure, sometimes. They can't hold up to a half-decent movie in that regard but at least they're trying.
/v/ tends to shit on any game that even remotely tries to not have an excuse plot though, and it's pretty sad.

You're conflating enjoying a well-told narrative and actualizing said narrative into your own existence.

People love music, art, games, media of all forms and types without blending it into their own positions and life.

You can appreciate a compelling story, with interesting philosophical angles, without trying to use it as some form of springboard for your own positions.
