I remember playing this one quest in Oblivion as a kid where you meet this guy who asks you to kill him while he is unaware, if you do you'll find a key on his body which you can use to open a box and read a short note about his life, telling you how he had no friends, etc. That really got me down.

Not gonna lie, my reaction to this scene was
>the final puzzle is upside down sudoku?
Fallout 4. I cried because the ending was so poorly written when you meet father for the first time. It felt so lazily thrown together that I couldn't justify all the hours I put prior into the game just for that bullshit.
The final case in Trials and Tribulations.

>>381043832
Something about that scene made me extremely weepy too. But the scene is more suspenseful that emotional. I guess what evoked that reaction more was the synergy between Junpei and Akane just that leap of essentially blind faith. Not to mention that music, god, that fucking music something about it just hits the pit of your stomach.
Journey made me cry for some reason, when you collapse in the mountain just to start flying freely.
i loved that walking simulator

Although one that didn't involve the hero dying at the end was Monster Girl Quest Paradox. The final dungeon is the last holdout of a collapsing alternate universe. All natural life is already extinct. Only some artificial guards, a dim witted AI, and an intelligent undead persist to pass on what the last survivors learned while trying to stop the reality breakdown.
Every optional room on the way to the end triggers a cutscene about the various things people did during their last moments holed up hoping for some miracle to happen.

Final Fantasy VII, during Midgar and the Golden Saucer. The charm, the characters, the atmosphere made it feel like the childhood I never had. Especially with Aerith's house, and the music that plays on the outskirts of Midgar. It's really lovely.
>>381057467
I couldn't get behind the character writing in Automata. The designs, direction, sound track and such were all solid but none of the characters really sold me. I couldn't like them as much as I jammed with the original crew. I'll also go ahead and say that the game having a half optimism/half reminder that things are shit overall atmosphere turned me away. Sometimes it felt like I was supposed to feel like things are getting better and sometimes it felt like I was supposed to be playing, say, NieR. The tone clashed and shifted a lot, combined with some weaker character writing than what I'm used to from the midget behind it.
Emil was cool but I didn't really appreciate it, it just felt like another attempt to remind people that NieR and its side materials also happened despite Automata having low relevancy towards it.
>>381059002

Ouendan/Elite beat agents have such emotional songs
This one gets me the most because of the slow start up and how it builds up

I usually get sad at Falcom games because musically they hit hard even if the story isn't as depressing as it could be.
YS Origin with Toal comes to mind because the melancholy theme that plays when he talks to the goddesses
>>381067387
>A Christmas Gift
>I don't want to say goodbye again! I can't, I won't!
Only game that ever genuinely made me sob.

But anon, the game did give me feels

This entire series was incredible.

nice try fag
Overwatch.
I cried when the game went into overtime right next to the checkpoint EACH TIME and despite my best efforts my team couldn't win the fucking game.
I cried when I realized just how many hours I wasted on that godawful piece of shit. I cried when I thought of all the millions of fucking idiots who could never understand why the game was so bad and happily digested Blizzard's relentless stream of bullshit, always hostile to the very concept that someone would see through all of it and had enough knowledge of shooters and game design to DARE call Blizzkike on their debauchery towards enlightened shooter veterans.
And now I'm going to cry myself to sleep thinking about the morons who will have the same ignorant animosity towards this post.

>>381068680
But most of all
I cried knowing how fucking helpless the game makes you. Never able to truly succeed. Never in control of your own destiny. Always at the whim of Blizzard's fascist design ethic and teams of the kind of drooling retards who still blindly support the shit they swallow and are so fucking inept that they carry the shooter genre down with them.

I fuckin hate games like this. I know variety/sad endings is needed sometimes...but fuck man. All that shit for semi nothing.
>>381068519
You got me anon, those were spoilers for completely different games, like the one where your assistant is the murderer or where you were on the moon the entire time.

No it's because the fanbase is cancer that believes everything came before Undertale when everything like Earthbound inspired it.

Freedom ending did it for me also. To know, that your friends would kill you to create their ideal world, even after things return to normal.
Hollow knight puts me in a bit of a somber mood but in a good way I suppose. I find myself becoming very attached to the characters that I talk to even only once.

Them being animals has no influence on the plot and is only mentioned a couple of times in dialogue. You begin to ignore it after a while

Silent Hill 2 was such a classic for it's time. I do remember how strange it was to go through the experience itself. It's sad we do not get any games like this anymore.

The only thing I feel towards Marty is rage. I played The First and then Painful so I started to forget how bad he was, but the secret ending in Joyful reminded me.

This song was very powerful, it fit the game perfectly but was such a sudden change of tone from some other tracks. It's also one that gets better when listening the second time you play the game and have a bit more context to it.

Emotional? Sure. This game made me mad at all the demented faggots that kept praising it, and mad at myself for listening to those fuckers again after how bad Ever17 was.
Higurashi is a good mystery VN, this garbage is poorly written drivel.
>>381043832

Maybe, but probably not. I can never seem to get into Visual Novels. You guys told me Saya no Uta was great, Fate/ and Tsukihime too. None of them were amazing at all.

Could potentially get me interested in what looks like a generic disaster/apocalypse/"oh no we're trapped, but there's an evil mastermind too" anime scenario.
>>381074162
there's no evil mastermind in ever17
>you guys told me
holy shit stop this
hopefully you are a mature, independent individual with your own tastes and preferences
hopefully you are capable of looking at something and judging for yourself whether it seems like something that would fall into those tastes of yours
hopefully you are not someone dependent on the word of others who know nothing about you to tell you what you will like, and then lash out at them when their shots in the dark don't hit the mark
vns aren't for everyone
Fate i can understand since it's paced like frozen molasses and the translation is ass, but if you didn't even like Saya it's probably not the thing for you
shame but what can you do, no sense forcing a triangle peg in a square hole
The first time was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of time. I was about ~8-10 at the time. It was after the last dungeon and after you defeated the boss. The player would then disintegrate, leaving the partner behind.
Hit me hard af
I'm so emotionally broken and fragile that I get this weird thing where if something happy happens I'll suddenly get an overwhelming rush of emotion and sometimes tear up. It usually happens watching shit like Harry Potter. I even get it watching game trailers imagining myself as the developer introducing my game to a crowd. It's pathetic.

I like horror stuff and I enjoyed the Kara no Kyoukai movies a great deal. Why's it such a stretch that I'd be interested in those two? There's nothing wrong with trying something after hearing other people's positive opinions of it.

just don't blame other people for you not liking something recommended to you
vns are a pretty specific type of appeal though, most of them are intended to have as much padding as they can get away with
if you had some more specific complaints i could maybe recommend something but from what little i have to go on they just don't sound like your thing. mostly they work on atmosphere, slow build, and getting invested in things that would at a quick glance seem utterly retarded.

Honestly any game that I get immersed/invested in. This hobby is more and more about pure escapism for me anymore and the moment where I finish a game and realize that particular path of escapism that I've used for the past however long it's taken me to beat it is now closed to me it makes me face how I actually feel about myself and my life again, and that moment where it all sets back in hits me hard every time. It's probably the reason why my backlog is 80% games I get 90% finished and then stop playing.

Admittedly though I think they would have been fine anyway. Terminal velocity into a lake isn't fatal if you know how to dive properly, so I'm fine with the bit of power-level fanservice for Cassius.
I preferred the lake scene though. It really, really hits home when you can just feel all of those pent-up feelings swirling around inside of Joshua just start to come out when Estelle gives him more than what he wanted most, twice, three times over. He got more than he ever could have dreamed of when Estelle just gave the guy a genuine hug from someone who loved him. The last time he probably felt that was with Karin so many years ago. Both scenes were good, and the game made me tear up like a bitch.

The fan games do a pretty good job in the emotional department. Not nearly on the same level as Painful or Joyful, but they do well. I still need to get around to finishing Pointless, but I did enjoy Hopeful.>having to stand there and watch Cyclops burn to near death>getting to Lanks only to find out he killed himself
>>then Cyclops succumbing to his wounds shortly after>having to fight them as Joy mutants if you gave them Joy>"Hart ruins your life!"

A cool thing about fiction is that I can pretend that the true ending is non-canon or she's dreaming or something and enjoy the other 99% of the story.

How much more crushing is the VN anon? If I was actually bawling my eyes out in the anime, will I survive it?
>>381082442
I haven't watched the anime so i couldn't tell you
Apart from some already cited games some emotional games were Z.H.P.: Unlosing Ranger vs Darkdeath Evilman and the good ending of Disgaea 1. In Z.H.P. youdiscover that the mc was severely traumatized and it's literally a “from zero to hero” story. The ending where all the people that you helped cheer you on and you sacrifice yourself to destroy the bomb was beautiful.
In Disgaea instead you have things like:
> «Is this love Flonne? If that's it, I'll never believe in love!.»
Honorable mentions for Devil May Cry 3 and Final Fantasy Type-0. The “It's raining” was nice and, while the plot of Final Fantasy Type-0 was a clusterfuck, the ending was really emotional.

>Spends the next 8 years petrified and watching some dude raise and lose his own kid
>Mom gets killed right in front of him
>Finally saves the world
>Spends the rest of eternity getting cucked by horse dick in h-manga
It's not fair
>>381069407
Think of it as a disney cartoon sort of thing because that's pretty much exactly what it is
This is the alternative to outside observers getting upset that your game doesn't have enough blacks in it

First it makes my cry, then it kicks my ass with fast and brutal platforming.
This game is pure Kino.
I always cry a lot overmemory lossendings.Your friend sacrifices herself to save you and the magic involved makes everyone forget about her. MC wakes up on the shore alone and cannot stop crying for seemingly no reason. And so did I

Yeah, goddamn Ori. Just replayed it this weekend. It makes me cry too, but it's because of that Ginso Tree run-from-the-rising-water level.
I got through it a lot faster than the first time (about 5 hours, still got a ways to go for the speedrun achievement)... but I still can't comprehend how anyone plays through it on hardcore mode. I'm lucky if I can keep my death count under 100.

FF15... jesus christ 10 years for this literal piece of shit standard boring as shit open world with nothing in it.. and this after not just months but years of trailers of shit that isnt in the game.
Had one or two tears in my eyes when i came to second half of the game and realiced the "second world map" was just a lie and everything in the game is basically boring desert and boring literal most average greenery ever.
