I have a 1440x900p LCD monitor and I can use it with my PS4 since I have a DVI to HDMI adapter. The image displays fine and on the PS4 side I have the choice of 1080i which looks like shit or 720p which looks alright.

But don't all non-CRT displays get more input lag when you don't run them at their native resolution? So if I'm playing my PS4 at 720p mode on a 1440x900p LCD monitor am I getting more input lag than if I was playing the PS4 in 1080p mode on a 1080p monitor? Assuming the inherent input lag on the monitors are similar or the same.

Why do you have a PS4 but not a 1080p monitor

I have a 1080p TV which is my main screen but it has like 35ms input lag which for most games is fine but I feel slightly disadvantaged in online FPS and if I ever got into fighting games, also the TV has a lot of motion blur compared to a monitor.

That aside I've never heard anything like what you said in the OP. Input lag would remain the same regardless of resolution and even if it created a little extra input lag your still in a better position than most people. Vast majority of console players are on TVs with more input lag than even a cheap monitor has.

I've always heard that LCD's having to upscale or downsample an input always adds on extra input lag, so any input that's feeding a resolution that is different from the TV's native one is susceptible to this. It's why games on NES, SNES, etc all feel like garbage on LCD's because their resolutions have to be upscaled to shit.

put your tv in "game mode". it's supposed to reduce input lag. it reduces input lag by turning off stupid post processing shit TVs do or something.

I know, mine is in PC mode and has all postprocessing BS off which ironically actually makes the image a lot better looking and clearer. 35ms is the lowest lag my TV can get.

720p is actually higher quality than 1080i. I would go with 720p. If you're asking what's better between the 900p PC monitor running at 720p vs a regular 1080p TV at native, I'd go with the PC monitor. I doubt the input lag will be that big of a deal, especially if you're playing on console with other faggots mainly on TVs that probably don't even use "game mode" to reduce input lag on their TVs. You're thinking about this way too much.
