Really good Mario players will note that none of those 3 are as fun. Rather than getting good at wall jumps and side jumps, Luigi and Yoshi just have better ups and remove some jump types so it's less challenging.
>There are new stages, one for each new character plus a few "silver star" rooms.
Each is smaller and less interesting than the normal levels, but more is more. The total stars are now 150 instead of 120.
>Mini games
These can be pretty addictive, some are well designed but it's not a selling feature. The better news is each mini game is unlocked by a corresponding key, you have to find these keys in the castle so that means more content.

Verdict: Adding content to an old game is pretty mindblowing, but when I go back to play I almost always just do 64 since it's controls are tighter and more responsive and the new stuff isn't enough to pull me back into DS.

It also really helps to play it with an n64 controller or even a gamecube one. The game was designed around having an octagonal gate.

Also, that image probably gives me the most nostalgia of any image. The amount of times I stared at this image as a 9 or 10 year old before receiving my n64 for christmas. Getting that present literally wipes away the years of torture my parents put me through years later when they got a divorce and my dad was out getting hookers and my mom was a mental mess that cheated on my dad and I had to deal with them fighting all the time. At least I could brush the dust off my 64 and go back in time to when times were good.

DS is no improvement. Especially with the lack of the analogue joystick (note: the 3DS does NOT fix that).

Simply play the original. Be it original, VC or unofficial emulator.

Get the DS. Anal-logfags and Nostalgiafags just love shitting on the DS just because it "ruined" their controls and character design. The added content and multiplayer minigames easily replaces the original.
