I want to get into this game. What am I in for?
Is it true that you can't repeat failed missions, so they are permanently lost?
>>380990663
Play a good GBA SRPG instead. Don't be a faggot cuck.
>>380990663
You play as the bad guy
>>380990663
You literally play as the villain, sadly he never even realizes this.
>>380992190
>>380992484
When you get older you will see him as the hero.
>>380992190
>>380992484
>>380992632
I don't give a fuck about the story.
What am I in for gameplay-wise?
>>380992190
>>380992484
Well memed, but the real villain would be Mewt, who transformed everyone in town into random human-like animals, monster and zombies. Marche only brought everything back to normal.
If you want to fuck rabbit girls on another dimension that's fine but don't drag the whole town with you, you sad fucks.
>>380992926
Shut the fuck up.
>>380990663
You can redo failed missions.
If you're missing an item to do a quest and don't want to cheat to get it, you'll need another copy of the game, another GBA, and a link cable. You can trade items with other players.
>>380992926
An okay, if somewhat simple, SRPG that would be great without the retarded law system. If you're a completion autist like me, you can easily log 100+ hours into it
>>380993237
Spoilerfags are fucking subhumans.
Kill yourself faggot.
>>380993527
Make me, bitch.
>>380990663
>what am I in for
Unhealthy escapism.
>>380994447
What is healthy escapism then?
>>380994926
positive thinking
>>380990663
Be sure to play the sequel, too.
>>380991039
Shut the fuck up, you miserable pile of slutty whore.
just play the sequel op. the first one has a bullshit law system that hinders gameplay too much.
>>380990663
>What am I in for?
A mediocre version of FFT, but still an alright game
>>380996597
>that hinders gameplay too much.
Literally never happened to me.
>>380996597
just save and load if you forgot about some bullshit law.
>>380996763
>>380996897
I 100% the game, but I always got mad from bullshit red cards so yes I did reload lmao. I enjoyed 2 more but hey I guess he could just try both
>>380995731
Seriously? Instead of playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for 100 hours I should just think positively for 100 hours?
>>380993527
>complaining about spoilers for a 14 year old game
>>380997015
People actually got red cards?
>shattering crippled children dreams
my favorite gba game
>gria only ever showed up in ffta2
>will likely never be used again
Its a damn shame.
>>380996693
>alright
What's that, an 8/10 by /v/ standards?
>>380992926
first few hours are hard since you have limited options in terms of jobs and haven't had much time to grow, but once you unlock a lot more items the game becomes absurdly easy to break with shit like duel-wielding Excalibur paladins or double-casting red mages. It's fun to break shit but I wouldn't really call the game challenging, if you want challenge A2 is sort of better about that with brightmoon tor or some of the side missions.
FFT and Tactics Ogre on PSP are better, but Advance and Grimoire of the Rift are still good
How bad was the law system in 1? I don't remember it well at all but I'm fairly certain that's because I never found it as bad as /v/ says. Is everyone just exaggerating?
>>380998182
Most times you barely notice it. Other times a mission becomes near impossible because you brought the wrong shit.
>playing Advance over FFT
About what I'd expect from Lucavi Scum.
>>380998182
>start mission
>law is you cant cast spells
>start mission
>no melee
ohohohoho reload game
>>380998289
>>380998537
That's what it was then, I never experiment with teams. Mine were always the same balanced but bland composition
>>380991039
Fun, but too easy and simple.
>>380998182
its over exaggerated but some of them can still be pretty annoying, like dealing damage within a certain range like no more than 50, those were the fucking worst
>>380998182
Although I think law system was piss easy, there were some times where it was pure bullshit.
>no hitting on monster
>enemy team was full of monster
>have to cheese them down with counter-atack reaction and healing the only unit with counteratack
>>380998930
>not having everyone with counter attack or riposte
sasuga anon
>>380990663
>What am I in for?
the fun being sucked from the game by bullshit
>>380997474
>People actually got red cards?
I got a red card on a "No Knockback law" ON A CRITICAL HIT.
I GOT A GAME OVER BECAUSE OF RNG
>>380998930
>>380997474
I got that once and I had forgot to save in a while so I just used the totem powers to kill everything and suffered the penalties, it's actually not bad to get your units back from prison, just enter some easy random battles to pass the time.
>>380998182
No, system was ok, people are just retards. You could stack up cards, go to Ezel and get your antibullshit cards for those situations, people who never went to ezel deserve to get reds.
>>380999310
It was early levels, anon.
>>380997620
Well, they got a race in XIV based on them, so there's that, at least.
This is why I don't talk about games I'm currently playing or about to play on /v/.
it's a great game that has a minor inconvenient system that some people blow out of proportion
the music is excellent, the jobs are varied but not too niche (I find having too many jobs/classes in these games gets cumbersome). story and characters are serviceable
it's one of my favorite games
>>380990663
Best game I've played so far, I have it in my iPhone now...
Just don't look for any guides or best builds, just play it normally.
>>381000730
iirc rules that involve "no attacks" dont come up on early game, or at least not so early that you couldnt access to counter attacks armors since those kind of laws were "high" tier
>>380996467
Or just start with it. All fun and no story, but dialogue is still great. Perfection.
>>381000180
This shit drives me up the fucking wall.
>>380990663
If you want any semblance of difficulty for half the game, don't recruit a bunch of level 1 characters.
>>380992926
If you aren't interested in story you should seriously just skip to FFTA2.
The FFTA series is similar to Devil Survivor. The first game has the better plot, but the second game is just more fun to play.
If you think about it the laws perfectly integrate gameplay mechanics and storytelling, the game's message basically boils down to "no fun allowed!"
I think the laws intention was to force you to have a varied and diverse clan so you could deal with laws
but it was poorly implemented
Why did you guys not just walk around the map before doing the mission to get laws that were more in your favor?
>>381002730
You're on /v/, don't ask too much.
>>381001392
FFTA2 felt like it was 5 hours long
Just when things seem to be starting, they're over
>>381002901
The sidequests were pretty awesome though.
>>381002901
This, the most I can remember is that a group from other country wanted to do bad things but they couln't so they go back, and that there was a bad lady who wanted power.
The story was a joke compared to the previous ffta.
