ITT: Games you heard were bad but tried anyway
Pic related. Legendary really is THAT bad, only redeeming features of the game are the monster animations and comical npc deaths. They even had the cheek to sequel bait in one of the worst ending sequences I've seen
>>380983943
I don't actually remember why Legendary is bad.
I thought it was a cool premise
>>380984651
The premise was solid but the gameplay was janky and buggy, and the whole package reeked of being rushed by amateurs.
I remember the first teaser and trailers. Man, I wanted this game to be good so badly.
And then, it came out. I saw a few reviews and never looked back. It looked fucking awful.
>>380984863
I just remember the gameplay being so-so. Not anything spectacular, just kind of decent.
Couldn't this game have taken the Metro route and had decent gameplay but awesome setting and atmosphere?
>>380985103
>muh reviews
>looked
How about you play it.
>Metro 2033 Redux
No joke or meme going on there; it really is just a worse version of the original in every fucking way.
>>380985368
>Couldn't this game have taken the Metro route and had decent gameplay but awesome setting and atmosphere?
No without budget.
>>380984651
Off the top of my head
>ugly even for the time
>soundtrack composed of what seems like the same 2 buttrock tracks over and over again
>linear to a fault (likely because it wanted a story focus)
>presents the story through a few unskippable cutscenes (and with the dialogue in this they're never good) interspersed throughout corridors of faceless mooks and infinitely spawning monsters
>very poor weapon selection
>gunplay is just plinking at things until they suddenly drop (aside from the alpha werewolves)
>really bland environments outside of the werewolf city chapter
The premise was cool but that just makes what they did with it more disappointing
>>380985570
This really is one of those games it's better just to hear about. I forgot to mention it here >>380986524 but the pc version even comes with an unpatched gamebreaking bug.
>>380983943
Legendary gave me the wors case of buyer's remorse that i ever had.I bought it at half a dollar
>>380983943
I wish you guys would go back to 9fag. Legendary is a classic game that only casuals don't like cause it's too tough
The production values were super low and it felt like a game that was stuck in development hell, but at the same time it was never boring. More than anything the most annoying part about it is that it had some fun ideas like mixing melee combat and shooting, but they feel like they aren't living up to their full potential due to boss fights you can cheese even on hard, simple enemies that die with a few bullets anyways, and the level design didn't support any wall climbing besides from the asian level
>>380985815
What's the point of redux? Not sure if the screenshots were cherry picked but from what I've seen here it doesn't even consistently look better.
>>380987343
>>380983943
Got it for my xbox360. Eye cancer. Eye cancer everywhere.
>>380989571
Liked what I played of the first one, it was more Gothic than Arcania
>>380989930
Never played arcania because everybody said its utter crap. Should i give it a try anon?
>>380990314
I tried the demo ages ago. Didn't seem like a particularly bad arpg but I couldn't take a Gothic entry that has you destroying groups early on seriously
Also Diego now has a dodgy spanish accent
It wasn't the best but I honestly think it was worth trying, hell my major problems with the game are more to do with the plot and setting than anything else
>the EDGE system
>>380988689
It's okay, i managed to refund it.but i bought afterbirth+ with the extra money
Bound By Flame.
I thought it was a Dragons Dogma like Rpg. By the time I got to see the combat mechanics I refunded that shit. Jesus it was so bad.
>>380988020
Devil's Third had to go through multiple engine changes, the original publisher self destructing, and the new publisher doing next to nothing to acknowledged the game even existed, not to mention it being released for a platform that was, for the most part, owned by the total opposite of the intended audience.
Even though the final product wasn't so great, it went through so much shit that it's a miracle it made it out the door at all.
I had to buy it, just see how bad it was.
>>380989571
I played this shit and it's probably one of the worse RPG I've ever played
>>380988221
Console release
>>380992498
>expect DD
>get budget Witcher 2
Ouch
I took a break when I played it and never went back. Will say the premise seemed interesting though, channelling a demon is the perfect context for the psychopath moral options in games like this
I made jokes about it for so long I figured I had to try it. Couldn't finish the first level. It's entirely playable but there's just zero substance to make it worthwhile.
RIP Free Radical and TimeSplitters
Playing Tales of Zestiria right now.
It's alright. Not the offensive trainwreck it was made out to be. So far, anyways.
I like seeing threads on /v/ about these 7th gen games that I saw on store shelves constantly and remember without having ever played yet completely fell out of the collective conciousness of people who play video games
>>380995295
>7th gen games that I saw on store shelves constantly and remember without having ever played yet completely fell out of the collective conciousness
Hello
It was bad according to /v/. I liked Bioshock games. I liked System Shock 2. I liked TLoU even majority of you said that it was mediocre. So, might as well give this a shot.
Boy oh boy, what a bland nonsensical ride it was. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone but pseudo-intellectual faggots who never played games before.
>>380983943
The concept was cool, but the game was real shit.
Also, how many species of monster were there? Like, 8 or 9?
With all the mythological creatures available, half of the enemies were those fucking werewolves.
>>380995734
I really anted this to be good, bought it thinking people were wrong about it. They werent.
>>380996258
1/3rd wolves, 1/3rd mercs, 1/3rd cool shit that quickly stops becoming cool because they're the only things you fight in those areas. Enemy variety is one of the big flaws but even that could have been mitigated with interesting placement if they just tried
>>380996946
It was frustrating at times but I didn't mind it overall
>mfw the final bossinstagibs two of your characters at the start of the fight
And it turned out really enjoyable.
It felt like L4D with ants instead of zombies.
>>380995734
Whats so bad about this. is it the premise?
I even finished it. It was a massive pile of shit.
This one, i thought /v/ was just being dramatic, but it really was as bad as /v/ said it was.
It was a squad-based FPS, and I'll play any game where I can order some dudes around. Shame the game was an unfinished piece of shit.
The story was just ridiculous too. The main bad guy was your squadmate, so he spent the entire game killing his own guys. Oops, spoilers.
>think this is going to be another "hey I played this bad game and I think it's good, look how contrarian I am" thread
>it's actually not
>>380984651
Its sold as a pandoras box monster killing game
What you actually get is lots of generic solider bois to shoot
>>380999374
The last level and ending to this made me think it was made as one giant FUCK YOU to series.
the driving sections are borderline unplayable but without those I bet it would be some weird cult classic like Dark Messiah or something
>>380999960
I played it too. The plot is legit dumb as fuck and not even scary, the gameplay is barely responsive, and on top of it, it's unoriginal. It's surprising to me that it's one of the better western SH game.
no masterpiece but as a B-horror game its pretty fuckin neat, idk how much value it has if you don't like the movies though
>>380983943
Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires
Gameplay was kinda bland but I could make cool characters so it won me over actually.
Not too bad either. Looks like shit, buggy as shit but it has a certain charm
I was just so desperate for another game like Prototype. 2 was such a fucking downgrade, and the first wasn't even that good to begin with, so I couldn't imagine how bad this game would be. It can be fun, but it's painfully obvious that the Super power mechanics were lifted right out of other game assets.
Thankfully it was only 5 bux for everything years after the fact, so I'm not too mad.
>>381001312
Did they rerelease the game with a bunch of fixes and changes?
