I liked Alien AND Aliens personally. Alien had more suspense and felt more intense. I think ALIENS was a good reminder what how easily things could go south if we had a lot more than one of those xenomorphs on the prowl. Alien 3 was hit and miss, but brought the trilogy to a close. We don't talk about resurrection.
On another note, I feel like the AVP movie could've had a lot of its issues fixed with a few tweaks. Set it in the future on a different planet, for a start.
