Metroidvanias are a meme genre. With 2D sidescrollers, a simple move-right system is all such a game needs. Metroidvanias needlessly complicate this. Not one moment of Super Metroid's okay shooting/jumping is enhanced by its metroidvania "map". It's just tedious.

The only thing Axiom Verge really has going for it is it probably has the best take on the morph ball I've ever seen with the drone thing and the drone teleport is fucking brilliant, like seriously that part alone made the last part of the game pretty enjoyable, but the weapon roster is still cluttered and it kinda shits the bed at the end.

Super Metroid is an okay game, but there are better platforming/shooting games and people only care about it because "muh atmosphere". Also backtracking is just worthless playtime padding.

MGS3 falls under this category as well. Game mechanics like camoflage, eating and cure are just their for the show, in essence they're just menu navigations. The gameplay is broken, Snake has too much health, you can just run to the next screen with not a single care in the world. And if you're in a no alert mode like European Extreme, all you do is tranquilize guards from a distance they don't see you, rinse and repeat.

I was a kid during ps2 era and wasn't allowed console games because parents, but I got Sotc on ps3 and I thought it was pretty good. Barren as anything, but it feels kinda experimental and the collossus fights are fun.
I'm a huge nintedrone, but Sotc made me feel less bad for wasting money on a ps3 for unfarted and the last of us.

Overall I give the ps3 a 4/10. Not completely awful, but disappointing nonetheless

The gameplay is repetitive to the point of lunacy.

The AI chasing you is also laughable. When the crazy doctor was chasing me, I was able to just run in circles to get passed him, and if you make it under a bed just a second before he enters the room, he might check one bed and give up.

And that fat ass who kept trying to kill you all game long is like a running gag. "Whelp, it's been about 3 seconds since I last had to deal with him, I bet he'll inexplicably start looking for me in the sewers now!", and invariably he'll be there.

What little genuine horror there was to be found was buried under inane jump scares, and was broken up by having to read every little scrap of paper left around the place, which you need to do to get even a semblance of an idea of what's going on.

I genuinely hated that game, and I'm floored by the fact that it got a sequel, and that many people on /v/ (though of course not all) liked it enough to be excited for it to get a sequel.

TLoU had a nice idea to give a twist to the generic zombie game story. The problem is that Joel's choice should have been a completely selfish one, but in the end the game does absolutely everything in its power to justify his decision (Firefly soldiers are douchebags for absolutely no reason, Ellie's not awake to give her consent or try to convince Joel this is the right choice, the operation is proven not to work by journals, etc.), which completely removes any impact the ending might have had.

Nice character interactions, though. But people are delusional if they think this is the best game ever.

People are delusional for even calling TLoU a video game. It's not even really meme to say "I played it on youtube". It has the most base and shallow "gameplay" of any third person shooter out there. Naughty Dog is severely overrated because Sony fans don't have many good exclusives to compare it with. The mechanics are barebones compared to say Gears or even fucking RE4. It has less enemy variety than RE4 too and the difficulty is artificial with bullet sponges.

TLoU is just a generic third person cover shooter with pretty graphics (if you're into the typical bland off-realism aesthetic found in most Sony first party garbage games that is). With a juvenile b-movie story that beta and omega virgins idioctially believe rivals the best of (((Hollywood))).

Oh and one last thing, almost everybody says "the game starts slow and doesn't get good until you're about 3-4 hours in". If a game (or in this case "game") takes 4 hours to get good, then it's not good. You just stuck with it out of Stockholm syndrome convincing yourself it was good.
