Why I think Melee is the best game ever made:
>it has all the depth of traditional fighting games
>more defensive depth thanks to DI, SDI, and the shield (which is complex on its own)
>more satisfying and complex movement (platforms, wavedashing/landing, dash dancing, etc.
>more flexible/less flow chart combos thanks to percentage and move staling and DI
>with all this depth, its accessible to casuals because of simple inputs, popular characters, co-op/vs. gameplay, and many hours of single-player content
>still quite popular despite being 15 years old and being succeeded by more Smash games officially supported by Nintendo
Flaws:
>Unbalanced--even though all characters are viable for casual play, only about 8 characters are viable for top-level play
>phantom hits
>skill slope might be a bit too steep

Why does that matter at all? Intention of the artist really doesn't factor into how good something is. it is how it is, regardless of of what the artist intended.

The reasons you provide could feasibly be used an argument for "why melee is good", but not really "why it's the best game ever made", because you don't do much to argue why it's better than all other games. At the very most you've argued why it's better than other fighting games.
