It's nu-doom but with nazis instead of demons. I like it. The presentation is cool and gameplay is solid, about as good as nu doom too. Nothing amazing but a generally enjoyable experience.

Main character is actually pretty cool and so are most of the characters.

yeah it kind of took me out of the game after the second mission when you're interrogating the nazi and he starts stabbing you. he stabbed me like eight times before i realized i had to start punching him and he got like another 10 stabs in before i beat him up enough. just retarded.

The only "cinematic" shooter that I've enjoyed aside from maybe MW2. The story kept me interested (aside from the end boss being a little weak) and the dlc was great fun too. Although I think TNO is better, I'd much prefer playing TOB again

It was a fun action game with good gunplay and an interesting setting. 7.5-8/10 for the amount of enjoyment I got out of it though I found even the hardest difficulty surprisingly easy.

it's surprising how fantastically edgy and good it is.

Core gameplay needed some polish. It's very punishing on higher difficulties - not in a good way. You're basically forced to play it as a COD game but the gameplay elements suggest it was designed for run and gun type of shooter (overcharge mechanic, dual wield anything etc). I switched to medium later in the game and it is much more fun this way.

The game ran flawlessly on my mediocre rig. It's one of the smoothest games I've played in recent years. You just have a shitty computer or are attempting to run it on settings that are beyond your hardware. Keep in mind that at max settings, it's using MASSIVE hi-def textures.

It's literally a clunky CoD clone with the wolfenstein name slapped on it
the cutscenes, locations/setpieces are well done and the weapon animations and sounds make them feel chunky similar to FEAR but that's about all it has to offer
It's just another disposable AAA "blockbuster", literally the videogame equivalent of one of the Michael Bay transformers flicks.

Ignore the story, play on uber, ignore stealth, kill everything, best modern hitscan based game in the last decade. It follows modern FPS design trends but makes the most out of it by blending old aspects and having slightly more open levels. Although from this perspective its incredibly bogged down by slow boring walking parts and unskipable cutscenes. If you want a good FPS then play Wolfenstein the Old Blood, more focused on shooting and better enemy types that dont just force you into cover.

I GUARENTEE people who think this game is average or boring did not play on uber or used stealth like pussies. Keeping track of enemy staggers and prioritizing which enemy is about to fire first while targeting weak points and such makes it a good game and something as simple as that is not found in the generic modern AAA shooter like call of poopy

How? The level design is so much more simplistic, its essentially straight lines with one or two alternate paths that converge on the same straight line. Enemies are all hitscan, weapons are a little different but are still fast killing hitscan. The default speed is slow, relying on sprint, and you cant shoot and sprint at the same time. There is also cutscenes and exposition dumps in between combat encounters instead of level exploration. Both games have a rifle with a rocket launcher attachment, one is fast and switches instantly, the other is slow with a long ass wait time in between rockets. Guess which is which.

Now if we're talking main characters, I like how Doom characterizes him without dialogue and I also thoroughly enjoyed having my expectations subverted by BJ being an interesting character with actual feelings. Both games go off the idea that the player wants to kill the enemies and incorporates that into their characterization.

Doom is far worse optimized. Wolfenstein, Evil Within and Doom have the same engine, so they should run similarly well. If Wolf and EW don't run right, you gotta update drivers.

If Doom doesn't run right or at all, you have to do THAT and a whole bunch of other shit that Betathesda tells you to do and even then there's no guarantee it will work even if your machine isn't some toaster.
