I want to get into Yakuza, but I don't know where to start. I make a big deal out of playing in release order and experiencing this shit the original intended way. In that sense, I should start with 1 on the PS2.
But I lent my PS2 to a friend for the summer and won't be getting it back until I go back to school in the fall. Also, the remake of 1 is just around the corner, and it's supposed to be fantastic. But then, at what point should I not just start with 0? I've heard Kiwami picks right up from 0 so I don't know if it would be strange to skip 0 if I started at Kiwami. I know 0 is the earliest in the timeline but in my head it's not the right wha to consume the timeline, and I'm worried it might even ruin later plot points for me. What should I do?

At this point, all these "how do I play Yakuza" threads must be the same person just fucking around.
Wait for the PC releases. They will probably release kiwami and 0 on PC and that's the perfect point to start.

This is the first time I've made this thread
>>380931567
So you would reccomend starting with 0 despite being a prequel?
>>380931258
You can start with zero but you'll miss shit, in Yakuza threads they lay out how to emulate 1 and 2

The only thing hard about starting with 0/Kiwami is that the gameplay of the older games will be harder to get into. If that kind of thing doesn't bother you, then Yakuza is best played chronologically, rather than release order.

I can just play the original 1, that's not a real problem. It just feels like kind of a shame considering how nice the remake is supposed to be

So starting at 0 won't spoil shit for me that I'm not supposed to know in later games?

Correct

Alright then thanks, I think I will do 0 then. I appreciate it
