Prime was my first and Super was my last and I still prefer Super. It stands the test of time because it's so good.

HL2 is one of my favorite games of all time, but I agree with you. It definitely shows it's age (it's over a decade old, so really what do you expect?), but I believe a majority of its accolades are the result of where the genre was at the time. I'm not here to defend Brawl as I'm more of a Melee player but just to add a small precision about the balance. The main problem of Brawl was that MK and ICs were utterly broken, but surprisingly the rest of the top tiers and lots of high tier were actually very decently balanced. I attended to some tournaments were MK and ICs were banned and almost every other character up to mid-tier were viable. And as you can imagine the tournaments were much more fun and the results less predictible.
